So you mean it sounds plausible that I activated FF XIV on the 9th of November 2010 and never even created a Character? So my memories playing in 1.0 were just a fluke? I literally bought the game, activated the Account, never touched it afterwards?

This sounds very unlikely, even if it was 9 years ago.

You said you had 2 accounts. Maybe you deleted a character afterwards, or did something else. I don't know. Maybe someone else got in your account. Do you remember your character name? Plug it into lodestone.

I checked - The second Account didn't have FF XIV activated before ARR was released - Before that, it was a FF XI Account.

So the old Account was DEFINITELY played in Legacy and early ARR, my friend even has the Character in his Friendslist still. Char Name was "Stella Nia". The char is just nowhere to be found.

Maybe I will ask the Support if they can find that character somewhere... Its very mysterious.

Anecdotal but it may help you locate your character:
I dimly remember someone else bringing up a legacy character they only found by chance when they transferred a new character to the server the legacy character was on, with no indication of the legacy character existing in the Mog Station before.
Maybe your character is in the same limbo and you can find it by checking through all the servers?

Any player who paid for any cumulative 90 days between the commencement of billing services on January 6th, 2012 and the suspension of billing services on September 29th, 2012 qualified for Legacy status, regardless of which 90 days were purchased or whether they were purchased as part of a larger plan.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.

There's muiltiple parts to legacy. There's the actual legacy option, which would've required you to have paid for a certain amount of time in 1.0 (you'd see this on your account page if it is active), then there's the other half which was a mount if you'd done the quest in 1.0 and the legacy mark if your character was around 10 or so at the time of server closure.

Characters at trivial level were not transferred. Characters created after the 1.0 series are not eligible for the mark. So if you just picked up the game and put it down after an hour, you have no way of getting any legacy anything-- no matter how old the account itself is.

So Legacy status for an account and legacy for a character are generally two different things. All characters that existed in 1.0 including those created just before service ended are eligible for the Legacy Mark (Mark of the Twelve as it's actually called.) regardless of account status I believe. If you met the criteria for Legacy status on your account but didn't have a character from before service ended you'll have the status on your account but no mark on your character's back. Characters created after ARR service began even for Legacy accounts won't get the mark. The mark merely shows these characters existed before ARR service began and nothing more really. The Legacy status on an account however was reward for having subbed so many months during the period of time the game was undergoing its rebirth. A way for the devs to thank players for remaining loyal.

Now even if you have an account that is from before 1.0 service ended if you just quit the game and didn't return until ARR service started then you're really not eligible for the status. Sorry to say but that's just how it goes...

That is incorrect. I created an alt character just before service ended in 1.0 that was transferred over and has the legacy mark on their back. All characters regardless of level are transferred over. The only true difference is if you completed the main scenario storyline in 1.0 and defeated Nael van Darnus that character will be treated as the original Warrior of Light who saved the world during the Calamity. The ARR storyline will have some minor differences up to them recognizing you for your feats later on. The Binding Coil of Bahamut also has some slight alterations to dialogue. However if you didn't you'll still be treated like a fresh adventurer come to Eorzea but in both cases retain the mark.

Okay, there are two different things at play here:

    1) Legacy Account

    2) Legacy Character

In order to get a Legacy Account, you had to have paid for 3 months of subscription in 1.0 before it was shut down. So if you didn't pay for 3 months of sub, you didn't qualify for Legacy Account and thus can never get it.

In order to get a Legacy Character, you had to have an existing character (that was logged into at least once) from 1.0 on your account. If the account didn't have any characters, you don't get anything.

So in other words, you don't "deserve" any Legacy status of any kind if you didn't qualify for either of the requirements above.

P.S. Legacy Account grants you a $5 discount on sub each month. Legacy Character grants you a tattoo on your 1.0 character's upper back and the Legacy Chocobo (if you unlocked your chocobo before 1.0 ended), along with other things like the old Goobue mount if you had it, some items you had, etc.

Right, that's what I'm thinking is also the issue here, the OP deleted their original 1.0 characters back in 1.0 years ago and so they cannot be restored, that only 1.0 characters that were still intact at the end of 1.0 can be transferred into ARR (my boyfriend also had this issue back when ARR launched in that he deleted his original 1.0 character back when 1.0 was still running to create a new one, and only that new one was available for him to transfer into ARR).

And if the Mogstation/SE Account Management System is saying there is no trace of 1.0 on your account then alas you probably cancelled your entire original 1.0 service account which also completely deletes the game code attached to it as well as any characters, thus losing everything forever. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way you can retrieve this information now I'm sorry.

Not true. Besides my 1.0 main I also had an alt in 1.0 that was still level 1 and I had never done anything with beside the opening movie in Ul'dah... and I could transfer her into ARR as well (and had the meagre gear she had started 1.0 with). She also had the Legacy mark as well.

So level and whatever you did in 1.0 does not determine whether or not it that character can be transfered into ARR, it just has to have been created in 1.0 and played the opening. That's all that is needed. If that character was set as 'cancelled' in your list of Service Options in the SE Account Management System at the end of 1.0 it can still be transferred. 'Cancelled' and 'Deleted' mean two different things, cancelled just means the subscription for that character was cancelled but the character data remained on SE's servers. Deleting that character is exactly as it says: the character data has been completely deleted from SE's servers and is unattainable. Deleted character data cannot be recovered and it is this situation that is the cause of where a character cannot be transferred into ARR.
