Please give Hildibrand a voice!

From v1 to 2.1 Hildibrand has been a hilarious and outstanding addition to the ffxiv story. But one thing is missing...VOICE!

The Hildi storyline definitely needs voice overs. They are some of the best and I was immensely disappointed when they were text only.

Come on YoshiP, just give the ok and we will all be happy!

Voice over is always a ... delicate ... issue.
Without voiceover, Hildibrand is as good as you imagined his voice is.
Now, add a voiceover matching your expectation/liking: "Okay...Hildibrand is exactly how I imagined him, I like him a tad better". But then, if you already liked Hildibrand as much as to request voiceover for him, to SE, that's an area that spending big effort/resource will only brings little improvement.

There's also a big risk: if the added voiceover not to your expectation/liking: "Oh damn SE you just ruined Hildibrand for me!" And popularity of Hildibrant went downhill...albeit resource spent.
Furthermore, along with Hildibrand, there's a lot of other cast (Nashu, reporter, the old man and etc). It would be weird to watch the cutscene if only Hildibrand has voiceover...definitely means more $$$.

Now don't get me wrong, I would LOVE voice over for every character! But, just to point out many concerns from developer POV.
More often than not, putting yourself in developer's shoe will make you understand why something is not (yet) in-game.

I clicked on this thread to say this very thing. Many times voice acting can ruin and otherwise great character. I really liked Papalymo until I heard him speak :x

I liked Papalymo and Yda's original voices personally.

I'm with you! I was in tears w/o voice from laughter. I don't want to be in tears of sorrow from a voice that doesn't fit...

Thanks for the video, I couldn't agree more Though after watching that what I most want is a return to the cinematic quality seen in 1.0's cut scenes.

Don't know about Hildibrand, but Arleen Sorkin for Nashu...
I just get a massive Harley Quinn vibe from her.

Or Marcie from Peanuts... Either way. <_<
