Fishing a little bit pointless now?

Hi there, I feel like fishing has become pointless especially in Shadowbringers very little fish is actually useable for crafters, so what is the point, except I guess for easy bubble fish white scrip farming I guess.

However one thing that I have noticed, with 1500 gathering and 1200 perception, HQ fish has become less and less scarce even older fish, so trying to catch legendary fish has become a chore.

And speaking of legendary I think SE needs to add some catch rate % to our stats for every 250 Gathering we have. Will make old Legendaries a bit more bareable. Also they need to increase the buff from the Giant Takitaro - 2 minutes isn't enough especially since it is a nightmare to catch it in the first place.

Be nice to us Fishers Square Enix, we love fishing, but don't make it boring

Fishing really could use some love. Virtually all of the fish that are added to the game exist just as desynth fodder for CUL, and now FSH isn't even allowed to collect an actual fish used in new recipes–those come from white scrips. It's also generally so unreliable to catch a specific fish that the only sensible way to farm fish is through a retainer. I'm making bank with shrimp for now, but I've only ever personally caught one because anything more is a waste of my time. Meanwhile, BTN and MIN are the backbone of virtually every DoH class and are extremely reliable. Even if their items tend to be worth a little less, the reliability is so great that they're easily better gil per hour and because of how timed nodes work it's actually worth my time to go get them.

Fishing in Shadowbringers seems to be pretty much a bust. Very few craftable fish, no aquarium fish that I have seen, and even the fishing retainer only lists about 5-6 items it can get - and only 2 of those are of any use.

You can catch Predators and reduce them for ageflow aethersand.

I was thinking the other day that they need to add two culinary recipes. One for fresh water fish and one for salt water fish. It wouldn't matter what the actual fish is, as long as it's fresh or salt water, it will work in one of those recipes. Because the fish seem somewhat pointless right now.

I mean anyone playing Shadowbringers should have known Fishers were gonna be left in the dust when King Salmon is just purchasable with White Scrips.

also Poeilla(?) from spearfishing in il Mheg can be reduced to give Scuroglow Aethersand - a much faster way of farming it than min/bot if you ask me.

As for King Salmon being white scrip - there's always something that has to be locked behind scrip for high level food crafts. *shrug*

All I really want from fishing is less "useless" fish added every xpac and for every fish useable in crafting to be obtainable by a fishing retainer. It's not fair that botanist and miner retainers can get nearly everything but fishing is lucky if it can get 2 or 3 useful fish from a retainer throughout an entire xpac. Shadowbringers is the first xpac I could actually use my retainer to get some useful fish, but theres still some crafting fish he can't get.
