You keep saying how if they brought the old system back they would have to adjust it. If it needs adjusting then doesn't that prove it was a crappy system to begin with. What is so wrong with the way things are now? I am pretty sure the majority of us want the game to move forwards not backward, you are fighting a losing battle with this one.

FFXIV is not going to be FFXI. It is nice that they pulled some things over from ff11, but FFXIV is focused on faster gameplay and stunning visuals. The whole point of playing a Final Fantasy game is getting a new experience each time. FF2 was the symbol for the series as it was such an improvement from the first and gave a glimpse of just how far the FF series could go. If you want to get the same game over and over again I suggest you play more western rpgs.

Max lvl = the actual game, so why make people take forever to even start playing... that's like getting a meal and having to chew your bite 50 times before even getting flavor out of it.
While i agree that the leveling process shouldn't take forever...I don't think you should be able to jump to max level in just a day or two or even a week either.(Without hardcore leveling every day.) What i think they should do is make solo quests that are job/class exclusive that give players a challenge all the while teaching them how to play their roles in a party to help them be less newbish when reaching max level.

Max level isn't the only part of the game....its a LARGE part for most people but then you seem to forget that the game is designed to level up multiple classes/jobs/roles and a large part of it is spent in mid game. You seem to think the journey itself is not important. That you should rush to max level with your exclusive static group of friends(if any) and not explore anything or meet people. Mid-game and low-game ARE important, there is low level gear/content that will practically become useless because everyone just jumps to max level through afk powerleveling. Ultimately you will not learn job roles or how to play, not building relationships....not being part of the community. You will grind through all the content quickly and end quitting the game by the next month making it unmemorable non-satisfying experience....unless you get some super awesome LS that you like to chat and screw around with. Even then people has only so much patience if they already did all they want to do in game. Its not smart for players or for SE to make a completely top heavy game and rob players of the joys of slowly building your character and making them attached to the world, and creating that personal memorable experience.

Experience should be challenging...not grindy. I don't want to sit there for 9 hours getting 1 level i want to be a baller and get a 50+ chain because i actually put EXTRA optional effort in the game and it made ALL my endeavors that much easier while STILL keeping the game challenging somewhat. That if they make enemies HARDER to kill(to help teach through longer battles) that they should also offer more experience as well making battles more epic and noteworthy while at the same time keeping a steady pace for gaining levels. Mid game is more prominent since your character CAN do what most mmo's dont offer you...aka leveling all classes on 1 character. That horizontal leveling factor of FFXIV is what large part of the game is based around(as well as FFXI) that rewards you from playing a long time in MID game leveling various different classes/jobs. I say offer more fun and challenging dungeons for mid-game to help ease the leveling process...that you put skill in to level faster not more hours. Longer hours are for people who don't know how to play forcing them to become better eliminating people who are 50 yet still suck to do lack of time spent on each individual ability fully exploring it AND using in tangent with all your older abilities.

Power leveling is not a solution for 2.0 onwards...yoshi P more than likely just sees it as a band aid for the current lack of players.

Only way possible to hit current cap in one week is to literally have no life for that entire week. Unless you are power leveling and you have someone there who is going to start with your from 1-50. But that is an option Yoshi went with, if you want to help someone and spend your time to help them get it then all is fair. Doing leves I could only get about 1-2 levels a day up to a certain point but when cap raises so will the exp. At some point it will be a longer run to get the next levels and I imagine the cap will be 75 at a certain point. Hopefully we see a small raise in the next 2 patches. I would like to level stuff to 55.

I do not support this idea, I think levelling the way it is now is fine. Thank you!

It is true that the higher the level the harder it is to get to the new max,i was never truly against power leveling as much as i am against making mid-game content obsolete and making a large top heavy player base that still do not know how to tank even at level 50.I don't want to spoon feed them facts on how to play their jobs at level 50...some people only have a few hours to play. Everyone will never get those minutes of their life back after those newbs waste your time screwing up your raid that was done 100 times before successfully. Not that i wouldn't tell them facts about the raid itself ASSUMING they knew how to play their role, just when i have to tell them how to play their jobs that they could have figured out easily by leveling up with other people normally is when people get upset.

Meh, i think it would have been better to say that it takes longer since experience to next level increases .Of course in a way, that would also be wrong because as you get stronger it becomes easier to defeat enemies. Shortsightedness on my part. I guess it becomes a chore after you get to max level when you already know how to play your job, then gotta sit there and level up 5 more times for 1 or 2 more abilities.

    No.

I don't even think it is necessary to say why, Yoshi-P and the devs did right.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
    (Marvelous economics IQ test!)

The only way I can see skill-ups being cool again is if they removed the job and class system completely and just made your character develop in its popular fighting style(Like FF2). Hack n' Slash mmorpg in the future maybe?
