New here, getting constant 2002 lobby and 90002 server errors

So I'm new to FFXIV, but not to the series as a whole.

I installed the game, set up my account, made my character, and everything was going fine. Then it booted me out with a 90002 server error. I figured the server was just busy and congested; I heard this can happen. I waited for a bit, and then I tried getting back in, but it says I didn't log out correctly and keeps blocking me with a 2002 lobby error.

Fine. I thought maybe I would try making a new character on a new server and the same thing happens: I watch the intro, complete the first introduction quest, and it immediately boots me out. No matter what I do on any server, it kicks me out with a 90002 error or a 2002 error after playing for about a minute.

I was told this could happen. It could be either a problem with PSN or a DDoS attack, and I should try again later.

That was yesterday. It’s been a full 24 hours, and I still cannot log in for more than a minute without getting kicked out with a 2002 or 90002 error.

I've heard 2002 means they're doing maintenance on the server, but I see no news of this. Am I missing something here?

For the record, I'm in NA and playing on a PS4. I’m on Mateus and Zalera, but I've tried switching databases and switching back, which I hear some people say works. I'm having no internet connection problems with my router or on any of my other devices, all of which I have tested and reset several times. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

90002 is a local connection error problem.

    Are you using wireless?

Try switch to wired for half a day and see if that helps.

If not, try rebooting your router and/or contacting your ISP

This started for me today as well actually; all was fine yesterday, today it's literally killing my whole connection on my PC. I'm on Comcast if that happens to be the common thread here, but yea can't log in at all. Best I got was a loading screen into game, then a 90002. Now all I'm getting is 2002 errors.

EDIT : For me switching to cable worked, so when I have a chance I'll have to reboot my network hardware.

Thank you both for the responses. I'm still having no luck today, so I'll have to try switching my setup to wired and see if that helps.

Is this normal for new players? Would reinstalling the game do anything?

Tons of people go through this and they say it's on our end.
Reinstalling won't help and I just did last night.

Was running fine all day until I entered a duty. Couldn't even get passed the first boss in Dohn Mehg. I gave up and ended the sub as I have been dealing with this off and on for three weeks now and nothing works to fix it.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in our response.

Has the error changed since you posted this? Does a wired connection resolve the issue?

There isn't much you can adjust on a PS4 to troubleshoot the problem, but you can double-check that your router has been reset by turning it off then back on after a few minutes. Also check that the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that they have been opened:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040
Your ISP can open these ports for you.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Thank you for the suggestions. I was able to get the game working for a couple hours a few days ago in the early AM hours. I even had the opportunity to log off on my own after playing a few quests! Unfortunately, ever since then, the problem has persisted twofold. I'm able to play for about a minute before being disconnected with 2002 or 90002 errors, if I'm even able to make the connection work in the first place.

I did try setting up a wired connection, but it does not work. I will call my ISP tomorrow and have them check the port ranges you recommended. I will update the thread once I test things out. Thanks again.

I called my ISP and enabled the ports you listed. It is still disconnecting me. The only difference is I sometimes get disconnected with a 90001 error as well as 90002 and 2002 lobby errors.

    This is very frustrating.
