    Ingenuity

Maybe common knowledge, but haven't seen it mentioned here yet.

Ingenuity seems to be essentially identical to Ingenuity II. I've tested it on lv76, 78, 80 and 2 star crafts. I get identical progress/quality with either skill.

Interested if this is intended and if so what the reason is mechanically. Took a glance at The Balance and seems they've recognized this too and updated their rotations accordingly. Fairly certain this wasn't a thing in SB.

Seems a lot of abilities have a cap on the amount they can nerf recipe or buff us so I guess we just hit the limit on how much Ing can reduce recipe difficulty. I don't use external tools so the new crafting window in-game which shows the actual values is very helpful.

    It's interesting though, At lv80 if I craft a lv80 item progress efficiency is a base 390.
    A lv78 item I have 661 progress at 100% efficiency.
    A lv76 item I have 730.
    A lv72 item I have 818.
    A lv1 item is 924.

So it scales all the way from 1-80**.
Ingenuity's tooltip slightly lowers recipe level, while Ingenuity II simply lowers it. If the level reduction is capped to Ingenuity, then II is basically a dead skill that serves absolutely zero purpose. Possibly II is glitched.

I mean Ingenuity, and Ingenuity II lookups are currently the same for 1/2*, I wouldn't expect this to be the case throughout, especially going towards 3, and 4* where Ingenuity and Ingenuity II should have different recipe level lookups. It's not that the reduction itself is capped, again, just set so Ing/Ing2 have the same lookups for 1/2*, and all recipes from 72-80 afaik. They're still different Lv70 4* and below

At least I would imagine so.

Has a decent write up on how it works. Ingenuity I and II don't have a ton of difference, but can make the difference between hitting 90% and 100% on harder crafts.

That link is out of date and from before Shadowbringers.

The way Ingenuity I/II works is it lowers the level of the craft to alleviate the penalty you get from crafting something higher level than your current level. The starred recipes are considered higher than level 80, and so even at level cap you are still suffering a penalty, with that penalty increasing as you go from * to ****. Right now, at * and ** Ingenuity I is enough to fully alleviate the penalty, so using the stronger IngII gives you no benefit. Come 3-star and 4-star, however, the level penalty will be high enough that Ingenuity II will be needed to further mitigate the penalty.

The link may be from before ShB, but I don't believe they changed how the skill works, so it should still be relevant. I may have missed something, though.
