Watching star placement and timing is one of the better yardsticks to go by for sure and that's defo the first thing I look at when I pug alongside an AST I don't know.

The cast bar thing is the trap answer I was hoping for though. My reply is aimed at healers more casual and less skilled than you though, so please don't take offence <3

Back on track, I get the feeling that a lot of more casual healers are under the impression that if they don't see GCD cast heals, their co healer isn't likely isn't healing. Seeing nothing but nuke casts kind of seals the deal for them.

If Miraidensetsu/Luno is still here and willing to join in the discussion, I put forward the following question:

I killed Innocence Extreme the other day in 7:56. In that time I did 206 total casts. 11 were healing GCDs with a cast time with 6 of those being Medica II. Beyond that I cast 96 Glares, I placed Asylum twice, did 2 Tetras total, didn't Benediction once and lastly, had an ~80% uptime on Regen.

What percentage of the overall healing do you think I did?

Knowing that fight, so long as people dodged, that should be most of the healing right there, nothing in that or titania is difficult to heal.

Make SCH great again! Seriously though, we just want our class to be fun and engaging again, not OP, is that too much to ask for?

I don't think Luno is about, so yep. You get the gold star

    It was a solo heal

You really hit the nail on the head with the cast bar issue. No matter how many instant-cast healing abilities the various healers get, many players are going to assume that nothing is happening if they aren't seeing GCD heal spam in the casting indicator. Ironic considering that, outside of a trash fire of a situation, one of the highest marks of healer skill is minimizing the occurrence of unnecessary healing GCDs....

It is pretty easy to notice when a healer is not even oGCD healing. When one of the healers has to constantly cancel even trying to throw out DPS to GCD cast constantly because the party HP bars are constantly at 50% or lower just from unavoidable damage there is a problem. I had that happen in one of my Innocence normal runs. After we booted the guy who was just doing DPS (after our second wipe with the guy) and got in a new healer we actually cleared the fight with both healers able to DPS and everyone staying topped off.
