Unfortunately, even if they can afford it, the wealthy never want to pay tax, whether it's in a game or irl. So I doubt they'd do that.

It doesn't make the housing system better.

It might improve the number of houses available if there are a lot of owners who bought just because they lacked anything better to do with their gil but don't really use their house. It would definitely turn housing into a more effective gil sink though I think your proposed tax might be too low if something like that was implemented. I would put it at 10% of the minimum plot value per month. There would only be a slight increase over your amount for those owning smalls where as someone like me with a First Class medium would be paying almost 1 million a month and a Second Class large would be 2.3 million a month.

The price is kinda random for now, but any higher price would make a newbie unable to buy and maintain the house...

Actually i dont think the price matter that much whats important is that the you have to pay mentality.

Definitely doesn't hurt to come up with possible solutions for the housing shortage, but I don't think taxes would help much. The super rich could probably flat ignore the lost gil and the poor would suffer the most. This would make it so only the wealthy players could own a house without stress. It would, I think, make housing even harder for a casual player who doesn't craft for hours on end and just likes to beat up monsters (like me!) to own a house.

Sorry horrible idea. I and my firends worked hard to get our shirogane house. I booked the day of work to log in on rush to buy it after spending weeks mapping out best route to get it. And worked hours into decorating it. I pay my sub too...why should i have to pay more tax to keep it.

If they really want to sort out housing shortages they need to make it that alts get automatic access and shared access as your main. buy back from people who had multiple from pre restrictions and more wards. / instance options.
