I joined shb about a week ago and I reached the first boss/primal.

I expected to clear blind on my first go since its a normal version, instead I spent almost an hour failing at it.

Mostly because the group, or most of it, was clearly fighting their first real boss ever, I expected some noobness here and there but really we had like 2 people who actually knew their job while the rest had no idea what they were doing, the off tanks were especially bad.

Not really a complaint, I was there at some point and I love having new people in this awesome game, just caught me off guard the extent of the noobness this expansion.

Guess ill run this content with my fc instead of randoms till they catch up.

Pretty much the MSQ skips and level boosts. Most of those players dont know the stack markers, AOE markers and have very little hours of experience with their job. So you get to Titania where people are failing an easy dps check.

Yep, and it is in content way easier than Titania, even after repeated explanation. All you can do is explain it, try again, and repeat the process. Eventually, everyone gets it.

I dread trial roulette now. Odds are I'm going to get Titania when I queue up, and there are usually enough inexperienced players in the group (that are, I would add, unwilling to listen to instruction on how to do the fight properly) to make completion virtually impossible. No amount of skilled play on my part can compensate for having half a group of people that didn't bother to learn how to play their jobs, let alone do the fight mechanics.

It was very painfully obvious last night in our Titania normal group that at least for half of them this was their first ever Trial. There's no way they could have made it this far. Constant dps check fails. Once or twice before the trees even got bigger. Brutal. Loads of deaths, stacking issues, even had the boss cleave half the group one pull. I stayed as long as I could (they were slowly getting better) but eventually someone in the party initiated an abandon.

Would be a good idea if the skip had a couple of prerequisites before it actually throws you into the newer content. Titan hard mode for example was a great filter way back in 2.0.

Or something along the lines of that bardams mettle boss but solo run and mandatory to unlock duty finder. And have it introduce mechanics like stack markers and such.

This problem will clear up after a few weeks of practice. And anytime you see a green leaf, just call out mechanics as they pop.

“Stack now”
“Get in a puddle”
“Kill the adds”
“Toggle your tank stance on”
“Face boss away”
“Get behind boss”

- these are short enough that you can type them into party and not suffer too much of a dps loss in a normal.
