dang it rocl i was typing that out all awesome like with quotes and stuff and you beat me too it /cry
I'm far too lazy to find quotes to support my ludicrous claims! But this thread inspired me to pore over the 2.0 PDFs again.
It looks like those weird geographical formations will happen pre-2.0 (the caption next to the concept art says "Current players will have the opportunity to unlock the mysteries surrounding blah blah you get it") and there's variations of the 'geographic anomaly' in both the Gridania and La Noscean zones. Thanalan and Coerthas both seem to the big one, which leads me to believe that it might very well be in Mor Dhona or replace Mor Dhona entirely. (Mor Dhona is suspiciously absent from any of the 2.0 PDFs)
The Behemoth art also seems to have a similar anomaly in the back ground either coming from the sky (Dalamud?) or fanning out in a very peculiar way. (I sort of wish I could read all these JP squiggles on these PDFs, why weren't they translated!? FAVORITISM.) I'm super curious how the Imperials are going to be able to get a stronghold up and running in Eorzea so quickly =P but maybe that bit of Thanalan shown in the Concept Art is closer to Ala Mhigo??
But the red aetheryte floating up and now the aertherytes turning red and the "geographic anomalies" looking very orange-y with aetherlike qualities lead me to believe they might all be related to the very red moon!!!!!!!!!
idk I am super bored cooking ._.
I recommend you have a wander north of Camp Bluefog, the entire horizon to the north is covered in Garlean Magitek Generators, you can walk right up to the gates of a couple of them! I'll post a screenshot I took when I get home from work!
Managed to get a nice shot on a clear day of 5-10 generators on the mountain range of thanalan :O
Aren't those just ceruleum things (generators? miners?) and not necessarily Imperial in nature? Now that you mention it though, ceruleum is what Magitek runs off of, so that could be a good reason for the Empire to be in Thanalan =PI recommend you have a wander north of Camp Bluefog, the entire horizon to the north is covered in Garlean Magitek Generators, you can walk right up to the gates of a couple of them! Scary isn't it.. Prepare for our end is nigh...

In the concept art translations, the red color aetherate/floating is supposed to denote crystals that are no longer active (unable to teleport to). Don't know if that is what this portends, but could be an indicator to which ones we are going to lose.
I suspect in 1.22/1.23 Were going to lose teleportation to those location ( at least till 2.0) or any this is an indication that they want to do away with anima? idn But I all I know is this is pretty friggen Epic on how they are Handles 2 Versions of FFXIV at once!![]()
and yes rocl there is translated versions of the maps on the Jap to Eng translation thread done by Reinheart (here is link to all the translated pics http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...l=1#post393706)
Also from those translations the red stones are unusable... so if its red it is DEAD :P
