On Dark and Light

The main misinterpretation is that Umbral/Astral as something to do with Light/Dark

It's 2 differents axes.
Umbral/Astral roughly translate to passive and active.

By example: Astral Fire manifest as flames and Umbral Fire manifest as dryness.
Wind, Lightning and Fire are tiped toward Astral and Earth, Ice Water are tiped towards Umbral

No elements are (as far as we know) typed toward Light or Dark..

As the nature of Light and Dark, we don't have a extensive cannon explaination yet.. They are not elements (even if they have elemental sprites).

Light can be Umbral or Astral, Darkness can be Umbral or Astral

Light and Dark are indeed a seperate spectrum of energy from the elemental energies, but they affect elements. Light pulls elemental energy to the passive, or "Umbral", charge, while Dark pulls elemental energy to the active, or "Astral", charge. Light and Dark themselves cannot be Umbral or Astral because they exist outside the spectrum where those properties exist.
