Ever seen a bad player on Twitch play this game?

The other day I was watching a Twitch stream of this woman playing this game who really got under my skin. She is a variety streamer who had just got to the Vault Dungeon on WHM.

Since I knew she was a new player who still had to sprout icon I thought I'd give her a heads up that the 3rd boss in there can be tough the first time there especially for a healer as I remember having a tough time with him as well. I told her in chat "the last boss there is a lot of dodging, be careful". And she got annoyed and said "um if I need help I will ask my party members in-game. I like to experience game myself the first time through". Knowing that she only pays half-attention to the game anyway because she is usually too busy interacting with chat I couldn't help myself but see the crap show myself. And sure enough it was baaaaaad...

After already wiping 2 or 3xs in the 2nd boss she gets to the 3rd boss and wipes at least 8xs...I could see her get visibly stressed out on stream. She ended up spending 1hr and 40minutes in the dungeon. She had a stupid rule to where "I only want help if I ask for it" Her mod called it don't be a "backseat gamer".

Sorry for the long post but this sorta piss me off seeing someone stream the game, play healer and let party members die over and over because she was soo bull-headed. Not to mention it could have been easily avoided if she'd listened to advise early on. Anyone ever seen something like this?

I avoid this by not watching streamers play games and instead play them myself.

Sincere question, what’s the draw? Beyond watching a guide video for something you haven’t done before or didn’t understand.

Nope. But I am playing the game myself and experiencing it the way it's meant to be, so...

It's like introducing a friend to something you like. You've already seen and played it, but you want to see how much they enjoy what you enjoy.

There are channels out there that make guides and other stuff and spread misinformation, so yeah.. Not surprised.

I have a feeling your're exaggerating the situation, but anyway...

Plenty of people want to experience fights blind, and I see no issue with this. Plenty of streamers also have the "no backseat gaming/spoilers" rules, too which are perfectly reasonable. I've seen plenty of people in twitch chat unable to respect two very simple rules, and be reprimanded as a result. This sounds more like a "you" problem, OP, if you can't follow such a simple request.

I agree, I don't "watch" twitch much at all but I thought I'd just randomly help a new player streaming the game since I just so happen to see she was in the Vault

You're dead wrong, I could easily link you the video of what I'm talking about but I'm not going to out the Streamer like that in public.

Tbh that person doesn't deserve your clicks or views if they have that kind of attitude there, I don't watch streamers but if someone told me what she told you I would just close the stream at that point.

I actually ran into a variety streamer playing healer in Amaurot. My expert roulette, but her first time through. She and the 2 DPS wiped at roughly 90% boss health remaining on the final boss (very early). I just went ahead and soloed the boss (was on PLD).

It was a little funny re watching from her perspective. She was annoyed (along with her chat) at first, but transitioned to praising me at the end once it was clear I would finish the boss instead of wipe.

I think the big issue that occurs in things like this is due to differences in player. For her this was her first time playing through, everything was new and shiny to be enjoyed. For me it was one of many daily grind duties to drag other players through, kicking and screaming if needed.

You're not going to have these 2 players see eye to eye on things. All you can do is try to respect their differences and kick / leave if it becomes too much to handle. As far as being annoyed watching the stream, then don't watch.
