(QoL) DNC needs a skill to reset Standard Step cooldown outside of combat.

This is a quality of life request more than anything, both for Dancers and for the people who raid with one.

Similar to Ninja in Heavensward, DNC's pre-pull preparation is of 40 seconds, and two pre-pull uses of Standard Step, for their opener to be optimal. In an expansion that saw pre-pull wait timers reduced with the removal of out-of-combat Aetherflow, and following the CD reset on Mudras with Hide, it doesn't seem too bad of an idea to give Standard Step the same treatment.

To clarify, I don't play DNC myself, but having raided with a bunch of them, it's always a hassle to wait those 40 seconds every time.

It's a job that has very good hotbar real state, so an additional button with the express purpose of resetting Standard Step wouldn't cause any issues, I think. The biggest "but" I can see for this idea is that it would allow them to always have Standard Step for every pull in dungeons, but with a 30 second cooldown on the skill, that's already probably a reality. It could even be a higher level skill (70+), so that the already insanely high damage they bring to low levelling dungeons isn't doubled.

It would be wonderful if this would be considered. Dancer is already kind of in a bad spot in terms of raid DPS contribution, and the hassle of having to wait in between pulls for good openers doesn't make it very nice to raid with one.

The last I checked, the 45-second pre-pull for DNC is only a 50 potency increase on their opening Standard Finish (since it will now hit under the personal 5% damage buff). So, unless the DNCs you’re running into are wishing to do bleeding edge min-maxing, it’s not a terrible loss to just do the standard pre-pull of 15 seconds.

However, this value came from fairly early on when people were still figuring out optimal DNC play, so it may have changed since then. I don’t think it would have, but mild disclaimer in case I am mistaken.

EDIT: I wanted to confirm, so I asked one of the physical ranged theorycrafters, and they said it’s just +5% on the DNC’s opening Standard Finish plus their partner’s first attack. Not a make-it-or-break-it difference from the 15s.

If you’re doing prog, don’t 45s opener for prog. Just 15s for the sole reason of getting pulls in to see mechanics and get closer to enrage. If you have to have that little bit for a kill, I’d think the problem isn’t that the opener is necessary but with the group not being optimized enough in terms of just straight damage (or too much dying).
