It's okay. I feel ya. War is boring as heck right now to play too. And Sch... ahhhh my favorite healing job HW Sch... what have they done... = (I play WHM since 2.0 until 3.0, didn't play the 4.0 to 5.0 extension (game break).
now, i started again with FFXIV at 1.1.2020, things changed a lot, not to the best (in my opinion).
There is no more need of Mana Management, because 50% of all spells are for free, the new mana regen skill "Lucid Dreaming" and "Thin Air" do the rest...
also everyone has 10.000MP ?!, how long it will take and everyone has the same HP?...aahh... let's unify the whole Stats and Skills!
There is no need of aggro management, 2 - 3 Tank hits, and you can't get aggro - even if you spam Cure III.
they removed 3 possible Aero DoT's (Aero I, II and III) and turned it to a single Spell "Dia"... also Fluid Aura is a useless Spell now (and Cure I),
the new "dps" rota is Dia > Assize > Glare > Glare > Glare > Glare.... (so mutch fun!)
and the new bloodlily spell... it's a flower... that grows and do aoe with a "blink" sound... so much impact... feels so powerful... (not!)
Generally the WHM Job system is unnecessary, the Single-Target heal is the same as Cure II (potency) and the AOE Heal is the same as Medica (except range, 30 to 25),
that could have been put together... if a lily is ready = effect: you can now use Cure II or Medica for free and it's instant?
same by the mnk, i miss my Greased Lightning as BUFF... but that's another part
i probably switch to mnk, i really loved it to play as WHM, but now i don't feel comfortable with it.
sorry for this wall of text, but now i feel better
probably some grammar fails, english isn't my Language
cheers

I haven’t touched my scholar since Shadowbringers began. Hell I barely touch my DRK these days due to the changes the made to that as well.
I am kinda like that with DRK too. DRK was my chosen tank in HW and SB, whilst it feels smoother and more streamlined, it's much less interesting. I get the same with WAR and they almost feel like the same job, yet am having good fun with PLD and GNB, PLD I think has improved with time and that's something I praise them for.
But DRK was kind of a testament to one of my arguments on job complexity & difficulty in this game, that it should be tiered. DRK was harder to master versus WAR or PLD, especially in HW where they were very heavy on resource management, but that kind of thing is why DRK was fun to play.
I recall DRK being considered squishy on release but as people learned to play it, it was less so. Whilst I don't feel as bad playing DRK and WAR as I do healers, I still kinda enjoy them, but much less than I used to.

This is something I still hate they moved away from. There was never anything wrong with having slightly less accessible jobs due to them requiring more experience from the player. If you wanted an easier tank or healer, you had Paladin and White Mage, respectively. For those looking to have a bit more complexity in their job of choice, you had Dark Knight and Astro.I am kinda like that with DRK too. Now it boils down mostly to aesthetic—or in the case of Astro, a job feeling entirely cumbersome while its counterparts achieve the same results for half the effort.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."

While I agree that complexity should matter, DRK's [Dark Arts] complexity [Dark Arts] wasn't [Dark Arts] all [Dark Arts] that [Dark Arts] it was cracked up to be.This is something I still hate they moved away from. Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Was in love for old AST during Stormblood.
Played SCH and did great performance in progress and speekill with it during 5.0 and 5.1.
But, the fun is not here anymore.
I will not rehash what I have said before.
A lot have happened during Alexander Ultimate (like some of my teamate trashtalk me when they have no clue of what they are talking about, kicked my cohealer...)
So this plus the fact we have no sign, no words of SE on healer state, I have taken the decision since early 2020 to stop playing healer completely and HL with it. I will continue to play occasionally with my SAM.
I have stopped my subscription too. Will be be back probably at each patch for 1 month (or more if the Eureka like content is interesting).
My SCH is geared now, and ought to be the class I'm excited to do progression with... but I'm not. Instead I've found myself playing tank and DPS whenever the opportunity presents itself. Probably going to wind up a tank main at this rate, which I doubt will hold interest indefinitely.
Started as AST this xpack (mained it in SB when I started to play) but it just felt... awful. Swapped to WHM to do progression, now playing SCH and loving it. I still personally love healing, but find that I only really enjoy it now when on SCH due to how it's kit plays. Even with the ast buffs I can't bring myself to play it ever with how clunky and unfun the cards are.
I have enjoyed DPSing more though this x-pack on my drg and mch. I'm not as disappointed when I get to play those as I was before.
I voiced my concerns like so many people at the release of the healer changes for Shadowbringers and it was every bit as nasty as I thought it would be. Up to the end of Stormblood SCH was my baby and I loved the class more than any other, it seemed to fit me perfectly and I even farmed the Zeta relic. Then you take Miasma, Miasma II, Shadowflare, Bane, Energy Drain... it was crippling. At the time everyone said it "wasn't a big deal" and "healers should just heal" meanwhile everyone was singing praises about how tanks were getting designed more like DPS classes because, hey, that's fun. There was also talk about how the need of healing was going to substantially change, so that instead of endless broil spam, we would need to actually spend GCDs healing. I played as SCH through the whole storyline and it was very, very disappointing. With even fewer buttons to press, every "climactic" fight was me spamming either Broil or Art of War, endlessly. I didn't even need to heal, because Eos topped me off against everything. While the storyline was good, the actual fights had more mechanics than ever, I was bored to tears because I could do combat with one finger.
Now, as 5.2 rounds the corner, we can look back and laugh at all of that. The changes made healing harder and less rewarding- if you managed a pull without GCD heals, congrats, keep pressing Art of War, when in the past if you could manage the up front end of the pull with oGCDs, you could get off your crit DoTs + Bane early and melt pulls like crazy. I've stopped playing SCH all together, which makes me sad.
Worse, players take this design choice in the opposite direction- ever since the patch drop nearly every healer I get stands by the pull twiddling their thumbs between tier I GCD heals, actively refusing to do damage. It's infuriating as a tank, because tier I healing GCD spam isn't very effective and people will get very offended if you expect them to do more.
All in all the healer changes killed the enjoyment I got out of my favorite class, and created an environment that is simultaneous inhospitable to new players and insulting to regular players.

Yup. Not just quitting healing. Quitting the game. AST was amazing, now all three heals are boring pets. Grats to the portion of the players who had to control every dynamic of the game and did not want challenge or variety; you won.
