    Sad but true words.
Don't get me wrong. I love healing and will continue to heal in the future.
I never understood why so many people think healers getting tons of comms just for playing healer.
Of course you do get some comms here and there but mostly in those runs where you don't do anything special ^^

Exactly this. I do exceptionally well and pull people through the gates of hell and prevent a wipe, no comms.

Nice simple straight forward run where people does everything they need, no real challenge to healing. Comms.

I'm also still salty about my Leviathan Ex clear, which is now old hat, but salt never dies :P. I was marked so people knew where to move to as I was the only one doing it right, despite it being my first run ever. Half the DPS were knocked off, 1 tank and my Co healer were knocked off, I kept everybody else alive, including the tank who was taking damage from both ends, and me avoiding the healer debuff from the tail. But it's the BLM who got all the cheers for their well timed LB. I mean I loved that I pulled it off, but I just carried y'all, and you thank the BLM but not the healer.

This was all before SCH was OP and experiences like that make me question why SCH needed as many heal buffs it has got and dumbing down. I'm not particularly hardcore.

I think it's not so much that people don't appreciate healers as it is that when you don't heal much yourself you don't really know how to gauge healer performance. People just know that the healer's job is to keep the bars full, so they evaluate the healer based on how full the bars are.

The result of this is that I often get commendations in inverse proportion to my actual performance. I get a group that stands in every AoE, and I heroically keep them alive, and they're like, "We almost died! This healer sucks!". Then I get an amazing group that takes no damage, so I sit there spamming broil and twiddling my thumbs, and they're all, "Man, this is the best healer ever! <COMMENDATION>".

Rezzing people seems to be the opposite way, though. I know when someone dies I tend to blame myself for not keeping them alive in the first place, but it seems like they disagree because I always get commendations for rezzing people.

    Pro tip:
If you really want commendations, your best option may be to let the tank die during a trash pull and then impress everyone by salvaging the situation. Like, say you were in Snowcloak back in the day, and you were busy getting bane out on the mobs when you should have been adloing the tank, so they die and you go into overdrive.

Not that this has ever happened to me. >.>

TFW you get three commendations for heroically salvaging a situation nobody realizes was your fault in the first place.

Strange, I generally get ~2 commendations per dungeon and 2-3 per trial/raidboss healed. Never had anyone yell at me either, though I've only dipped my toes into savage so far. And I definitely let people drop low to squeeze out more DPS.

I think to an extent, yes not everybody knows the healer way of life. But I don't think it takes a lot to realise that if your party is screwing up and you've not wiped then you've got a healer's who's keeping the party's back.

Sadly, if you are farming comms, I don't think the salvaging of bad situations is the way to go. Nice idea, playing with life and death like that is why we all became healers isn't it? :P But of course, we all make mistakes, it can be more noticeable when you're the healer making them, so being able to cover them up is nice and get comms anyway. -slowly tucks a dead body under the rug- Nothing to see here. I feel Edda was too hard on herself, it was the tank's fault he died, totally.

But I don't think salvaging bad situations is always a way to get more comms. At least, I have come across the mentality is that you're doing well if people's health is topped and people aren't struggling. But you're not doing so well if people are dead and are struggling. But of course, we know that's not an indicator of whether or not your healer was any good, because they might have just Rambo'd the whole thing, but because there were unavoidable casualties, it's the casualities that look bad.

Yeah, no, you probably shouldn't actually follow my "pro tip".

(And yes, in general I also seem to get more commendations by keeping health bars high.)

I've recently quit healing. AST main now going gunbreaker main. I'm disappointed how Square enix has changed the Astrologian class so much. It used to be my favorite and now I can't even bring myself to play it anymore. I will no longer play it until a change comes for the card system, either it being removed or change. It's pretty upsetting and hopefully one day they'll fix it.

I'm in the process of trying to see if I can get someone in my FC to get my SCH and AST on 80 (they're 73 now), otherwise I Will likely just do Leveling Roulette.

I am so sick of speedrunner tanks, who think that pulling 3 groups is a good idea when the healer is not Sync'd, especially on SCH. Had a PLD in a group today who decided to mash sprint right out of the gate and throw hallowed ground after seeing me lay down a sacred soil (thanks for wasting my aetherflow without warning....) and then after one wipe, she keeps pulling minimum two groups. She wiped us again after the first boss, nearly the same stupid crap.

Then, after the 2nd boss, she pulls two groups and not once does she ever cast Clemency the whole dungeon, but anyhow, I use a sacred soil when I know her Hallowed Ground is on cooldown, but I also had to blow 2 Lustrates after an Excog. That's 4 Aetherflow. I ended the fight with Aetherflow II, so the tank SHOULD know my Aetherflow is on cooldown, as is Excog.

What does she do? Mash sprint and grab the next 3 pulls.

.......I am getting really tired of playing healer.

Not because of mechanics, but because of GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO tanks.

I am sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately, it is very common and expected for tanks to pull as much as they can and for healers to catch up. My advice for you is to put sprint on an easy to press key and use that for sprinting tanks. Also, try to stay as close to your tank between pulls and don't stand in the back too much. When you're geared up more and at level 80, those pulls probably won't feel as miserable as they do now.

Also I feel a bit guilty myself for probably running away from scholar bubbles in the past, because I have to play with no effects on. Really wish they would make those visible with no effects, ugh.

...But, the thing is most tanks and players in general are so focused on their own agenda that they don't look at how many Aether stacks you have or what have you. Everyone is mostly focused on themselves and I think in duty finder content expecting your tank to work around you without blatantly telling them your preferences is a mistake. While I was leveling healers, I found it helpful to give a heads up to my party at the beginning of content that I was new and undergeared but would try my best regardless. It made things so much easier because tanks were more understanding when I messed something up or couldn't do BIG heals...I even do this now as I'm leveling tanks, so healers don't expect something they're not going to get. (Like pulling wall to wall, my gear is too poor for that!)

Anyways, I know healing can be stressful at the beginning because of things like this but good luck in getting yours to 80.
