I adore AST but I'm not raiding with it anymore.
And the only reason I take healer in DF is, and has been for a long while now, because I don't trust DF healers to be competent, not because of the healer experience itself. I'd have more fun on a DPS job.

Same really. Not going to be touching healing again unless theres some sort of fundamental change in the future, which as we as has been shown is not likely to happen at aany point.

Might as well add my own voice on the pile. Been playing this game since Heavensward, raided several savage tiers to varying success and consider myself solidly midcore/leaning casual these days. My own life schedule does not allow me time nor opportunity to raid Savage, let alone Ultimate.

I can't heal anymore; the direction of the overall role design, let alone jobs, is just not for me anymore. Which is incredibly disappointing as someone who wanted to start playing because of Astrologian's showcase (my gripes with that design change are the stripping of buff variety from the job). Understanding and accepting that they willfully do not want to return to Heavensward design is perfectly fine. However, there's room for the role and jobs within to have varying amounts of downtime engagement, from slightly more interesting damage rotations (and no, I don't mean just add more DoT's) to something brand new entirely. I did also give Scholar at minimum the good ole college try to see if it does feel more satisfying at 90. Despite the EXTREMELY welcoming QoL adjustments to fairy responsiveness, shield application speed, weave space, and even Deployment's increased range, it feels nearly exactly the same as Shadowbringers Scholar. Just...slightly less clunk. But not enjoyable for me. It's also not about how easy content can be, or how difficult, but the engagement with the jobs themselves and how sweeping changes affected the role as a whole, rather than individual jobs for diversity.

For anyone new to the game and who enjoy the healing role as it currently stands, genuinely wish you the best at it. But the design trajectory is not for me, and it REALLY makes me sad to say that.

Considering my sub runs out in 2 or 3 days, I guess you can add me to this list, too.

After Yoshi-P's rude, dismissive comment, I have absolutely no desire to play or resub for the foreseeable future.

I love the aesthetic of Sage, Scholar and White Mage, but sadly, aesthetics don't make a Job, and I don't think I can handle only casting Dosis for the next year and a half.

I used to run everything as healer.
When SE homogenized healer in ShB, I sometimes run as healer, sometimes as Bard.
Now, I'm leaning more and more to drop healing entirely.

Outside when content is new, I spent more time dpsing than healing.
Why play a healer when all you do is dps, right?

I'm gonna work on leveling BLM and main it alongside Bard, I guess.

I've been in limbo for a while now. I want to keep playing with my static and none of them are (rightfully so) interested in playing healer. So I'm stuck on the role. It pains me so much to even type that because I've always played healer in holy trinities. It's just what I like. But I'm as bored as everyone else posting here.
I'd also take healer into expert just to go faster because I also don't trust DF healers to be competent. But it's more and more apparent that I (and many others) will have to drop the role as much as possible if we ever want anything done. So I'm done taking healer into anything other than my static runs. Sadly, won't be that hard since I wasn't enjoying it anymore anyways.

I've swapped off healer this expansion. I'm tired of playing healer in savage, I'm tired of how healers are always last in getting loot, and I'm tired of how playing healer in savage/ultimate almost guarantees that statics will pass you over if you want to play anything else than healer. I specifically don't enjoy what the designers did to Astrologian this expansion, and how White Mage is so far behind Astrologian that serious statics will force you to play Astrologian.

It's fairly difficult to get competent healers now, many of the groups I know have had to settle with subpar healers, and that hurt progression this tier.

its not just me then thank goodness

It always annoyed me that healers are always dead last for gear. I hoped for this static when I was trying sage (only way i could get into any static was by doing healer and I do want to unlock the ultimate even though chances are I will never do it)
Static breaks on number 3 in the tier? tough luck healer only the dps deserve loot and maybe the tanks so they can ignore a tank swap. Its why I think savage loot should be personalised or drop 3 coffers one for each role.

I picked up sage for a little while but dropped it days after my static broke up in week 3. The dark arts lite eukrasia was enough for me to occasionally heal some difficult content, but once everyone was used to EW I stopped doing roulettes with it and after static broke I stopped entirely. The fact that healers aren't even neccessary anymore for most content was just another on the list of reasons not to play the role at this point.

At this point I'm heavily considering unsubbing until healers get better treatment from the developers or another job comes along in 7.0 that I enjoy like I did old astro and hw drk. Yoshida's insult was pretty much final notice. Unless the story hooks me in 6.1 I'm off and my friend can have my house. It was only the story and the house that kept me playing in shb because job and battle design was so poor and its even worse this expansion.
This game has been on a downward slope for too long in the core gameplay department and too focused on flashiness and "accessibility" rather than solid content.

While some recent announcements do please me such as difficult 4 man content at long last, I am rapidly running out of interest. Sage didn't offer anything new, Smn feels wrong without the pets, Reaper is far too clunky with my ping. Monk leaves something to be desired as usual and is still difficult with my ping. No other job moved on from the mess that is shb to be worth my interest.

Pretty much no job interests me anymore. Too many jobs are homogenised messes (tanks/healers) ping reliant (mnk, mch, rpr) or have no depth to them whatsoever (too many to list)
No to mention there are no resource based jobs other than sage anymore. Everything is a damn rotation

I like healing, I don't want to move to a GCD/hardcast focus as I'm not looking for WoW over here. I just want to heal in more types of content and I want more DPS buttons.

DPS get flashy finishers, primals, melee combos. We get to press Dosis/Broil/Glare/Malefic 180 times a fight, which is pretty terrible design. It's basically 95% of what I do and it makes Yoshi P's comments come across very awkwardly. This should be an easy question to field and clarify and instead over the past few letters he's said:

"Healers shouldn't have to heal much, it's too difficult!"

"Healers shouldn't have to DPS if they don't want to! It's too difficult"

"Healers should do Ultimates if they want challenge!" (They haven't released one in two and a half years...)

So the main take away I get from the recent Live Letters is that the Director has no vision at all for healing and far less of an interest in expanding end game than he does trying to lure lapsed gamers into retired content with Scion bots.

Yoshi P's comments were very concerning and seemed clueless. This should be an easy question to field, clarify and understand and instead over the past few letters he's said:

"Healers shouldn't have to heal muchl"

"Healers shouldn't have to DPS at all if they don't want to!"

"Healers should do Ultimates if they want challenge!" (This is the most tedious, niche content in the genre IMO and an Ultimate has not been released in over two years).

To all of us players, this just looks like the director of the game has literally no real vision or experience with healing.

All of this after having to sit through a presentation about coddling single player gamers and revamping ARR's awful MSQ really rubbed me the wrong way. Especially when I'm sitting in an active end-game that has never improved in the 8 years since ARR. Iffy on the future of the game, will probably be playing less in general, especially since we sound like we're moving into filler story.
Honestly I'm still very bullish on the future of the game, and I feel many are, but I will agree on the line in the sand the devs have drawn on healers. There has never been a time to me when I felt the devs were outright ignoring player feedback. Plenty of times where I felt they got it wrong. Or took a long time to get it right. Or went another direction entirely. But never a time where I felt they heard player feedback and went "Yeah, no."

Except now. Healer gameplay is the one time where I feel the dev team truly feels they know better then the player base and are actively pushing back against it. Every other time they have relented, even if it took two years to do so, and never did they draw such a hard line in the sand about it. The thing is though I honestly feel they don't know that pushing that hard back isn't going to get the desired effect. This player base kinda has a track record of never backing down on something and just going with the flow. I doubt this is the first or last time where gonna have a contentious answer from Yoshi-P in a Q and A about healing.
