Has anyone quit healing?

I'm especially curious about players who have been healing religiously for the past 4-6 years (and I'll clarify why in a moment): did this expansion ever make you consider quit healing? Have you decided to quit healing?

I've been a healer for the past 6 years, and my only class was for the past four years was AST up until a few months ago when I took up bard (because I was burning out of AST - I loved it, but after playing it a lot for four years, kind of needed a break). I think most of my issues about AST is because I've been playing it since it came out (I was one of the first 3 or 5 people on my original server to cap AST and help others learn AST), and AST has undergone a lot of changes over the years, especially when it first came out, so we have adapted quite a bit. I think if they had done this overhaul shortly after it came out or I had just taken it up a couple months ago, I would've adapted to the new AST much better (but I probably also wouldn't have committed to it because I do like the flexibility and the unpredictable elements of AST XD), but because I've been playing it for so long, so often, that I'm really struggling with the newest version. I just can't play it anymore, and I'm sure it's because of my previous experiences and expectations of the class. So, I've been considering Scholar (despite its own overhauls, but again: AST is the only class I really played until a few months ago) and White Mage (my original main), but they just don't appeal to me. I really struggle to motivate in terms of using either or on my main or my alt.



So, after this past month, it's been like... "Wow, am I really going to quit healing?" I can't imagine not healing (DPS is quickly growing boring, and tanking can be very boring as well in comparison to old healers). I really hope I don't quit, because it hurts my motivation to play the game... and yet I just can't imagine not healing. So, to answer my own question: I seriously don't know if I'll quit healing. I really can't imagine it. I might buckle at some point and take on WHM again (though I am not a fan of its sound effects or animations [neurotic, I know]), but... Motivation is hard.


Anyway, what about you guys? Share your thoughts?

I've been a healer since Heavensward and that hasn't changed. I'm still healing away and will do so pretty much regardless of what happens to healers.

Well no, but I've quit Astrologian as far as a main job goes. I've taken up camp elsewhere.

No, I am levelling all 3 healers to 80. Once a healer always a healer.

I'm a healer first in every mmo I play. Nothings going to change that.

I said I might at the start of ShB, but no the changes are nowhere near as dramatic as people make them out to be. I have all three at 80 and am enjoying them.

i'm a Astro main and i dont like the rework of this job, i also always had big trouble working with co healers i dont know

So if i didnt got a great friend of mine as co-healer i would have left the healing right after ShB

i don't really play healing outside of my static anymore (especially not with random co healers)

Healer was my main since FFXIV 1.0.

WHM for 1.0 until 3.4, then AST from 3.4 until 5.0.

I now main Dancer. So I quit healer pretty much.

After SE decided to not add a new healer for 6 years come 6.0....and after the really bad job of balancing they did for the 3rd time in a row now at ShB I decided to stop bothering trying to be a healer despite it being my usual go to in games and my favourite role....

They just can't get it right, and I no longer trust them with healer balance or gameplay. I also feel like they are ignoring their healer fans while DPS and tanks get new jobs to play with... healer doesn't for 6 years....that is ridiculous imo. They keep using the same excuse of balancing, but can't ever get it right.

AST was my favourite job, now it is not, and that thread saying to just delete it? I kind of agree at this point lol even though it used to be my favourite job, that is how bad it is imo.

They took something that wasn't broken and tried to fix it, which just broke it even worse and caused all the fun and uniqueness of AST to get ruined.

WHM is in a good spot, I may play it some at max level since it was my original main job before AST, but like...it's too bad they can't seem to make all healers in a good spot and fun, instead they have again messed up.

The buffs to AST for 5.05 were needed since their healing was a lot lower than both other healers, but the Divination change isn't enough to close the gap between AST and WHM to make them more equal, and it also doesn't solve that AST's gameplay is clunky, unfun, and just overall not a pleasant experience to play it.

My opinion on it, but it seems a lot agree going by the forums, and also people I know etc. AST representation is at an all time low again.

(SCH main) considered at 5.0 class change announcement, still considering, but waiting to pull the trigger until 5.1 to see if healers in general will improve (downtime, downtime, downtime)

I went from
2.0 - SCH
3.0 - AST
4.0 - WHM
5.0 - SCH
Might be a loop for me, but I like SCH now.
I hated all the Macro's I had to have so I can be one with Eos. Wasn't fun. I don't care for the DPS loss, but they could compensate?
Maybe more Fae things to play with, and fix come clunkiness of the Fae's. Why did the do nothing to Selene? :/
Coulda has both Eos and Selene in a skill or something for a short time.

Have not quit healing but I'm just not happy with AST and bored of WHM for now.
SCH is keeping me up but I am still 77 in my healers and just not interested in doing too much...
not only because of the healers being meh, because we don't have a new healer to play with.
So the boredom might start setting it eventually.
