Their shields are also initially lower than astro so anything to bring them closer would be great. Maybe making galvanize a stronger % while crit carterize has a lower % to compliment but still give you the extra shield satisfaction. Just doesn't make sence to me that crits are they only time your shields are better than astro when. Its like they got the crit bonus effect 100% of the time while sch gets half that exsept the maybe 5 to 10% of the time they might crit.
As far as I’m aware Fey Illumination is still spell-based healing only. To be fair though, most healing boosts with the exception of Bard’s ‘Nature’s Minne’, which had its cooldown doubled to compensate (45s to 90s).

For the second issue, doesn’t Recitation make up for the lower initial potency on Scholar’s shields? It also has much better MP economy due to being so heavily oGCD based and Aetherflow / Energy Drain.

I can understand looking at the potencies of Nocturnal Sect and thinking ‘wait so which one is the shield healer?’. But I think the core of Scholar’s identity is that it has abilities that seem weak when looking in a ‘vaccum’, but when used tactically can become very powerful.

Indomitability is a good example of this. It’s very versatile in that you can fit it in wherever is tactically necessary; whether using it to supplement the healing from a normal Succor to top the party off before the next big attack, or combined with Emergency Tactics / Succor for a really big reactive heal. You can use it with Consolation to top the party off while shielding then without having to interrupt your DPS rotation (too much), or even just use it alone if there isn’t any further aoe damage incoming. While adding a cast time and putting it on the GCD would make it more readily available, it would come at the cost of this versatility.

I understand being put off by the lower potencies, but I think it starts to make sense when you look at the toolkit as a whole.

    1) Remove "in combat" for aetherflow and aetherpact
    2) Add old eye for eye effect to deployment or something, deployment alone is kinda meh
    3) Extend seraph to 30secs, 20 feels too short
    4) Combined Fey Blessing and Consolation, so fairy out its blessing and when seraph is out its consol

Happy to see lots of discussion. I just want to throw down the reminder to those who say stuff like "the other healers cant do X so they wont let us do X". Yes, you're probably right that they won't want to, but not all the healers have to work exactly the same, jobs can and should differ from each other significantly, and homogenizing them all to be more similar is why we're all so dissatisfied. It's an extremely extremely lazy form of balancing, and results in "healer in need".

I also want to say how important I think it is that they re-look at SCH leveling progression. Having done 1-60 very recently, I can say that it was a lot of fun before 5.0, and then after 5.0 it was no longer fun in the least bit. We need more kit and utility earlier, or no one is going to want to put up with leveling SCH. If you want a taste of how it is, go do lower level fates or pre-50 dungeons. Holy cow it's become weak and stale. It seems like they only worked on SCH with lv80 in mind.

This has been on my mind aswell for some time. Wether it was time constraint or disregarding during Q&A that healers were only playtested in the new dungeons, trials and raids. With no-one around to ask: "Is this fun in the rest of the expansion or rest of the game?" A joking suggestion is that noone on the development team played a healer before so they had to pick a volunteer who usually played another role, saw he could heal the Duty and check off the healers as ready for prod. I really hope we hear from the developers themselves soon as I don't want to believe this scenario came to pass, yet with what we go it seems all the more possible.

Just seeing how much difference loosing 4 dots and tools did for Scholar, I hope the relinking or reassinging of ACN skills and manual pet hotbar dosen't stop with Energy Drain. Something new and just as, if not even more interesting would be the best going into a new expansion, if they are pressed for time I know it would be the fastest solution to solve both uninteresting leveling/synced content and deal with dull non-healing gameplay.
