And since Lizard, WoW's servers have never been brought down like that again. Because Activi$ion implemented numerous layers of protection against DDOS. It's not laughable to say other MMOs have better defense when it's plainly obvious they do.*dies laughing* Oh this is amusing. As an Ex-WoW player I remember when WoW would be brought to its knees for an entire week when groups decided to target it with DDoS. The Lizard Squad era was a dark time for WoW. There is only so much that can be done, and we don't know exactly what methods are in place. There is a chance that yes SE has a weak defense, but to say that any other MMO is better is laughable.
Well, people have to understand.. the game server itself uses an ISP like we all do. It's not necessarily something companies directly can handle, it's something those ISPs need to invest in protection for as well. You hit that hub that brings traffic to the game server? You bring down the game because people can't connect to the server and SE could see everything on their end as normal. It often ends up in playing telephone tag while servers/networks are on fire LOL
I really think DDoSing is a weaksauce thing.
I also think it's hilarious that people in this game are convinced that it's blizzard actively trying to sabotage the game which is absolutely ridiculous.
Agreed that it's lame to DDoS.
As for Blizzard... Five years ago I would have scoffed at the idea that they would do something like this. With their reputation lately, though, I doubt they are, but I can't completely dismiss it being a possibility.
Blizzard has become such a boogeyman on these forums that people actually think they are actively DDoSing SE.
