I'd like to see the trust system expanded greatly to include most major story NPCs and class/job quest characters, and then just let you use one at a time as a companion in the open world.

I've mentioned in many times in the past, but I miss my sultry, bisexual, flirtatous, snarky and sophisticated-as-all-get-up GLA Moonkeeper kittygirl Path Companion Imarah and her sharp-witted, innuendo-filled comments that were usually thinly-veiled come-ons to my character (Path Companions in FFXIV 1.0 didn't just help you in story battles, they actually had actual dialogue in cutscenes, effectively serving as the player character's 'voice' - as they were fellow members of Minfilia's predecessor organisation to the Scions the Path of the Twelve they also possessed the Echo and thus story wise were perfectly capable meeting with Primals):

So yeah, I'd love to have Path Companions like my Imarah come back, even though as Anima above said, they probably perished on the plains of Carteneau in the Calamity. ; ;

While I didn't play 1.0 I'd love to at least see an update on what happened to the companions there even if it is just that they died. At the very least it gives closure for the 1.0 players on their fate in that case.

Outside of them I'd like to see a dragon-type companion as well, there was one sidequest in the Forelands where you became good friends with one of the little ones and if he were to "grow" up a bit more physically I'd say he'd have probably joined us.
