The 'means' probably already exist. Just can't, when making use of them, stream with sound on without fear of being banned for having made the improvements the devs can't be bothered with...Yeah, you're right, actually. I went and compared the sound quality of the current sounds vs the ones from the trailer and they're the same. Hopefully we have... the means.. to uh.. make it sound less shitty at launch. I could care less about anything else but the main combo.
Well, of course it exists. I'm just worried if the means need to be updated or if it'll be good to go at launch. If you catch my meaning? I plan on running GNB for EW's launch, but maybe I should reconsider...
I left more in game feedback AND I'm posting in this thread again. The main 1-2-3 combo (Keen Edge, Brutal Shell and Solid Barrel) definitely still sounds awful and it still needs a fix, considering that it's used 90% of the time to generate cartridges it's use is unavoidable. Still sounds as others have stated (blunt, like a pipe, like rolled up cardboard/newspaper) It needs more emphasis on the BLADE slashing (sharp slashes) rather than being a dull thud/thwack (blunt). It's been 2 years, we've given a steady stream of feedback. Please don't ignore us. Please fix it for Endwalker!
There's a decent chance the mods won't work for a few days, but I doubt the expansion would shake things up that much overall as to have them down for a long period unless the devs aim to push back specifically against sound/texture/icon replacement in general. Shadowbringers, for instance, didn't have much effect.
Excellent. I guess I'll have to deal with not hearing my main combo until it gets updated. Hopefully it isn't too long of a wait.
i found it funny they spent so much time speaking about sound design and had soken there to speak, with regards to this whole new surround sound thing, but GNB's cries for a sound readjustment for the solid barrel combo seem to've fallen onto deaf ears.
Could anyone elaborate on why the sounds were changed? I honestly liked the older sounds more.
The explosions sounded like crap initially so they changed them to be better but they also changed the blade sounds as well so players got something they wanted but also something they hated.
No one really knows. Well, sort of. I know a handful of people complained on the forums bitched about how they couldn't hear the explosions and the sword was 'too wooshy', so they overcorrected and made it sound like crap. Then the backlash of them changing it was much bigger but they ignored it. I remember when we even got a question about it into the live letter once and it was pretty much "You'll get used to it" and then never mentioned again. I'm not sure if there was some other motive for them changing it but it sounds like players who didn't play GNB just didn't want to hear the weapon at all in combat and got what they wanted.
It might be a lost cause at this point, but I still miss the original sound effects too. It might sound weird, but sound plays a big part to me in how it feels to play a job and I would definitely enjoy and play GNB more if they changed them back.
