Personally I don't care either way about the sounds, but to say "please don't dismiss the opinion of players who want the old sounds back, even if you like the new ones." yet the people who do want the old sfx back have quite often ripped through the opinion of those that have an opinion different to this echo chamber of a thread. Some of the discussions I've read have been less than civil, and most of this I have seen from the side that want the old sfx back, as if they have been personally offended that someone prefers the new sounds.

So I think that it should extend to both sides tbh, not just those that prefer the new sfx. Do realise this is a FORUM, a place where discussions take place, so you can't have a discussion without an opposing side.

Fair points on both sides. It can be challenging with this topic, and any topic that has created levels of attachment, to debate things respectfully. There's such passion either way. Perhaps a solution is to allow players to toggle which GNB sound they want to hear at this point?

I totally agree that an opposing side is perfectly fine, but from what I've seen after reading the entirety of this thread, most of the time said opposing side was just plain rude. You can't then expect people to be nice to them and want to have an actual discussion with them if all they do is call them names, tell them to give up, or that voicing our disappointment is useless. I'm all for listening to their opinion, but if they instantly dismiss mine, why would I even bother with theirs?

If you had read the entirety of the thread, then you'd have realized that it isn't only opposition that brings out the vitriol, but neutrality.

It is ultimately a thread of "I liked this, I want it back". That's fine. However, it unfortunately is easily counterbalanced by "I do not." These are subjective stances, based on individual preference and want.

And let us not pretend the OG sounders are not at fault. Their initial tone and lampooning and insistence on degraded sound quality just because they disagree with it sets the tone.

There also comes a time when you just have to let it die. The average fruit fly lifespan is twice as long as these sound effects existed in the live game. The odds of them returning those sound effects to the baseline combo are effectively zero at this point.

Let it go. Pump up your music, turn down your sound effects, and get on with it.

This is pretty much where I am at this point. Would I complain if they were to do a complete 180 and returned the old SFX? Probably not. I liked them. But I also don't mind what we have now. To be honest, I might not have noticed they made the changes if people hadn't brought it up, though I did notice the explosions sounded a bit more crisp, which I liked.

"OG sounders" Woah, we even have a name now. And tell me more about how "neutrality" brings vitriol when said neutrality is, and let me quote: "Just close this thread XD" "you people keep crying like babies" "take your temper tantrum elsewhere" "stop acting like a Karen" and so on. Some of those quite ironically being from one of the persons who are now saying that we are "ripping through their opinion". And that was just 3 pages that I randomly picked. But your answer just proves exactly what I was saying, and I thank you for that
