Not answering a divisive question that is sure to incite a negative reaction from either larger chunk of their playerbase isn't childish. Yoshi is more than aware of the memes that're being made over GNB's current SFX. To believe otherwise is ignorance; just look at his reaction in the latest live letter, spending an hour thereabouts discussing the more unsavory side of this game's community.
He knows his team dun goof'd in 5.01, but to revert to the original SFX would alienate the original SFX's dissenters, while maintaining the current status quo only creates more and more memes. Trying to reredo the SFX will take dev time as well, so what's a guy to do?

answering or not the question it's pretty much irrelevant, at least they answer to this compared to any DRK request wich is again and again the only job they love to ignore while the rest of the jobs get love in a way or another, i think the behavior is on the DEV team on this case but back to the topic the old dissenters just make 1 small threat asking for the explosions sounds being more stronger while the current dissenters create polls, a large threat, memes and even a mod against SE terms of use to get the quality we want on GNB and they refuse again and again on revert/rework.
It take less than a month to change and implement the current ones and have been pass several months after that, what is taking to long? the answer is nothing, it's taking to long bcs they are doing nothing about it and instead they preffer to "talk" about the unsavory side of the community, a unsavory side they could have avoid if they did things properly and a unsavory sides that just raised when shadowbringers was launched.
in resume going back to the original SFX or even have a mix like the current mod would get more benefic that anything, heck even going back to the old ones it will be way better since the old ones didn't raised the amount of complains they are getting now, i sometimes belive they did it on purpose to deviate our attention of tanks problems to this so they can't avoid the urge to make the large changes the role and several jobs need.
I have to agree with Shao on this one.
The longer this issue drags out, the more apparent and protracted the outrage becomes. I can't speak for Dark Knight as I played MCH at launch back in Heavensward, but I know the class and it's issues never gained nearly as much traction as what's going on with Gunbreaker currently. I've seen the mod in action on Youtube and how it takes both the new explosions and the old sword sounds and mixing them perfectly. All of their work is already done and it makes everyone happy if they were to just re-appropriate that material for official distribution.
I wouldn't have bee playing 14 so long if I didn't like the developers behind it. Yoshi-P made such a strong impression on me years ago, and him and the others do really great work, given the budget and time they have. However lately, they've been a little less than stellar. I don't hate them for it, I'm just disappointed.
Edit: This isn't to say I'm not happy with Shadowbringers, the story, the music, the voice acting and other amazing qualities. I consider the MSQ for SHB to be on par with how great HW was. I am beyond thankful that I managed to get through the base expansion's story before GNB's audio was changed, as I suspect my opinion would've been soured if I did not complete the MSQ by 5.01. (I hope they hire Edward Dogliani to do more work with them, he was magnificent as Vauthry.)

My preference would be the old sword sounds, and the current explosion sounds. Similar to the one in a mod a pc friend of mine showed me that I'm more than a little jealous of >>
Moreover, I think they should add a stabbing sound to the final continuation, and change the blasting zone's electronic windup sound to something more down to earth.
In general though I think yoshi-p and team should start listening to and consulting players properly before any major changes and actually make changes/improvements when possible, not in several years time.
Look at all the healer forums for example. A 45 page thread of healers who've downed their magic because the devs refused to listen and still refuse to when asked questions.
As an ex DRK main, we're still waiting for when we will go back to having our job rather than being a WAR knockoff.

I tried to post again.

Considering it’s s very trivial fix, I’ll vote yes to see if this outcry does go on deaf ears after all

I prefer the old sounds, the new sounds remind me of a club.
I've actually just unsubbed now, it's gotten old and I'm sick of them not listening to us after this long. I haven't given up but really... between tanks being easy as is to play and this audio change just sounding horrible... I can't anymore. Love how in the audio video they released they talk about the gunbreaker sounds but showcase the old sounds in it rather than these new hammer ones.

1. No content.
2. Problematic 5.0 job design.
3. Devs doing weird things.
It's starting to be poorly made game even for f2p standards. Story is not everything.
