It's funny because the same thing happened to me with Machinist. I got it to 80 around the time Shadowbringers came out. Anyway somehow I was missing like two or 3 abilities and had I not been making a cross hot bar layout I don't think I would have noticed any missing abilities. My bars were full up as far as I was concerned. Of course I fixed it and never stank up any content being bad, but it's still funny that it was on the same job.

Why would you not remember to look? The game tells you about it in Active Help, it adds the actions to your hotbar when you level up and it's generally obvious that if your hotbars are a mess because you just returned, you should look at finding the menu that allows you to redo them.

When you return to the game you get invited to the Novice Network where you can ask these sort of questions if you are lost, or you can ask in your free company chat if you're still in one.

Some people may not want actions on their hotbar because of them being useless or impractical and this helps SE to know when an action has fallen out of use, which does usually happen to a small number of actions or abilities each expansion.

Same. I was still able to hold my own in regular content despite missing what I believe now to be a pretty useful skill, but at least I have it now.

I understand were you are coming from I just like that little feature in Wow. It has come up especially if my ui resets and I have to fix my bars. It happens and knowing at a glance if I'm missing something important to me. I know I can't speak for everyone and that's fine. I hope you can at least see that.

If they add this hopefully they also add the ability to turn it off.
I keep some of my skills off my hotbar intentionally and I wouldn't want the incessant glow to annoy me.

Theoretically it would only be visible when you are in your jobs skills page. You would never see them if you didn't have it open. And knowing this game it would probably be a little green dot in the corner. Which again is the point so you know you are missing skills. Whether you chose to use them is up to you, but it wouldn't be annoying at all if implemented correctly.

Agreed. Repose and Fluid Aura come to mind for me. I would want to be able to turn it off since I have intentionally left those off my hotbar.

    Fair point.

You know, situations like this one:

Do happen. If nothing in your head pipes up to make you remember that a certain skill is not in your hotbar, you're just not going to look for it and usually, it's by trigger we remember to look for things. Just like Ardeth, I took a break in ShB. Came back, fixed up my hotbars for BLM and went on about my business for nearly 3 weeks, never once thinking that I should put Surecast in there (even worse, I thought it was there). Active Help didn't come out of nowhere on my screen to say I didn't have it when I came back. It was only when I was in a situation where I thought "where is that skill that lets me be immune to knockbacks for a few secs" did I actually realize I didn't have.

And besides, you're only looking at it from that facet. What about another facet where someone, who hasn't taken a break at all but maybe they were just completely cleaning hotbars, re-arranged skills from scratch and simply forgot to add a skill? That QoL would be a nice reminder to the player to put it back.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
