Then you had a salty premate group were you are not the only victim in ff 14. And i mean after hashmal you could used the card for arcana or royal road again that’s what I did all the time. So just because you had one bad cookie moment you reflect that in the entire situation? .You can believe what you want.
It was Rabanastre right after Hashmal, I'd drawn a Ewer and had no redraws, so to get rid of it I used it on myself, forgetting I'd already RR'd a Spire.
I see a "Seriously dude?" in the party chat, 10s later I'm out.
Everything had been smooth sailing up until that point.
Only time I've ever been kicked.

Some people thinks everything must be played at savage level of expertise. If I have to kick dps for any error I see, I will not complete any duty ever.
Oh of course, I'm not saying it was the norm by any means, but it was an example.
An example that won't happen with the current card system because there are no 'wrong' choices you can make.

Savage Completion Rate ~5%+ of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to savage"
Ultimate Completion Rate ~1% of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to the hardcore raiders"

Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"

You misunderstand me. Having a system where there are many outcomes and you have to pick the "right" one is fun. If you put spear on bard in the new system you know youre doing something wrong, its objectively, whereas if you used a bole on a tank in the old system, or a ewer on yourself, its not objectively wrong, its still providing benefit, its just not optimal, having room to make these inoptimal "mistakes" is fun, because you feel better for making the right decision

So AST is in a very "****ed if you do, ****ed if you dont" situation right now.
I get why they reworked the cards, they wanted the effects to be more consistent across the board because it having the same effect in an optimal environment every draw makes it easier to quantify and thus adjust the potencies for the sake of class balance. And the seal/divination system was an attempt to compromise with those who preferred the rng of the old system. Instead of the rng being in the cards, it was meant to be in the seals.
This creates two camps. The people who miss the randomness and nuance of the old system. Where while it created very satisfying moments of getting what you need at the right time, it also created moments where you'd pull useless cards for a given situation.
And then the people who prefer the new, who tend to point out that in optimized environment people where usually tossing cards for a very specific setup and purpose and that all the current system does is guarantee that.
You where neither the "spread balance or bust" type of ast or the "every card had a use in specific situations" ast. And naturally you're gonna bust heads, one thinks the other inefficient, the other thinking the other one is a bad and inflexible player.

Both parties are not playing AST either way. Casuals are not and elitists are not. When they catered to the louder minority they lost the majority

Someone's delusional or you are looking at the past AST with rose coloured glasses.
AST never wanted anything but Balance, or Spear sometimes. You can say they weren't playing it "correctly" but playing AST in Savage/high-end content at all proves Seraphor is right and you are wrong. The more you pulled Balance the better. Saying "variety" in the cards was good, and made AST better, is a lie because the different cards just made AST frustrating because it relied too heavily on RNG to be optimal.
Level 80: SAM | SCH | PLD | DNC
Leveling: AST | WAR | MCH
bole not being needed would be due to encounter design, arrow was unliked mostly because of tp burn, or short dps windows. But really, most of the stuff you are complaining about is high end stuff, where, even with your beefs, Astro was still an in demand Savage healer. Now it is not, and its less entertaining for most people. Sounds like a very bad trade off in every way.Except as you got further along Ast, you began to see that the 'thought provoking' card system stopped as you became more proficient. Spire was pointless, Bole was never actually needed, almost everyone disliked having Arrow, Spear had to be reworked and retuned to keep from being RR bait, and Ewer's usages hinged almost entirely on !@#% hitting the fan. Hope you RNG'd it.
Don't misunderstand me, I don't much care for the cards now either, but throwing the ole rose colored goggles on doesn't help anyone.
