I would like that too, but apparently they have other plans for 2.0 and it is not a priority right now. So, instead of working on something that will probably be thrown away, we have to wait.

Until then, it's party chat planning beforehand.
I understand there are many more things on the "To Do" list for FFXIV, however this is by no means a thing that would be "probably thrown away". In many MMOs a marking system is present for clarity and on the fly adjustments for party targets. All I was pointing out is that they obviously thought of this, however it's a shame that it cannot be used. There is a working system that can be readily assigned by macros (during levequests) that works perfectly fine and at a later date can be refined.

To add to the issue. Targeting commands as they are right now are also impractical to use as the require the player to enter the emote menu and then shift over to another set of commands entirely. Its not something achievable in a short time.
As I stated above, there is a simple way to attach this command through a macro with
/enemysign # <t>

This would prove useful in the case of New/Old content that no one has experience with where the leader can take upon quick judgement to assign focus. All this allows is for players to have a bit of a more fluid experience during combat and commands, while the time that needs to be put in to lift the "levequest requirement" might be relatively small as a bulk of the code is already completed.
