    I just don't understand this particular arguement against personal loot. There ARE proper valid arguements against it but this isn't one of them. It's basically the same exact thing as the current system except you cut out the middleman and don't need to roll.
    Except, in WoW, I've seen bosses get killed and it drops nothing for the entire group. It also removes the option to let others have items you don't actually need. For example, if we kill a boss and I'm a WHM but I tell the group ahead of time I'd like to level my tank alt, the other group members can choose to pass on all -of Fending items that drop.

    You simply can't do that with Personal No Loot.

    Blizzard went full-on ridiculous and removed the OPTION to change it to anything other than Personal No Loot.

    The first bit shouldn't happen, and afaik doesn't happen unless half the group or so have already done the boss and are locked out of loot. Otherwise, sounds like a bug.

    The rest of what you said, though? They ARE valid arguements against personal loot. I never said there weren't any arguements, just that "I kill a boss and get nothing" isn't one of them.

    Basically, yeah, the major downside to personal loot is that it promotes class stacking. If you're the only cloth wearer in the group, you have only one chance of getting gear suitable to you. But if you bring along a slew of clothies, up to 4 in a standard WoW party, then the 4 clothies can pool their loot and increase the odds everyone gets something they need.

    Of course, with the coffer system, that actually wouldn't be an issue in ff14, not in raids at least. It wouldn't be a net positive either though as random groups end up with the same result of everyone "needing" it but only a couple of people winning it, and statics would continue funneling it all to their priority member first anyway (or just skipping rolling for it if your static doesn't funnel

    The major saving grace of personal loot, however, is the loot protection system, that makes it more likely for you to get loot the more you don't get any loot. This would have very little effect in FF14 though what with the FF14 instance design typically just being single boss fights, barring Alliance Raids and Dungeons

    II prefer the new loot system à million time over the last one. Being in a static without a DRG in SB, we dropped so much DRG stuff that our monk would have had a higher ilv on its alt job than its main had he gotten all the DRG loots.
    We also were plagued with tons of healing stuff to the point our smn actually bought nearly all his pieces with weekly book.

    There is nothing more depressing than to see drops for job you don't have in your group or simply don't need. Especially considering some pieces only work for 1 job

    However I do agree that it would be nice to be able to go clear the boss more than once a week without gimping other players.

    How is the chance of a drop useful to you proportionate to rolling against up to 7 other people any different, on average, from rolling against up to 7 other people?

    My only issue with it is when personal loot is used without actually using personal loot tables. What I bring to the fight shouldn't affect someone else's loot. I would have thought that more obvious than WoW's made it out to seem.
