when can i start playing after patch

I cant play dota last few days and I assume its the patch getting done, however pat is saying its only on for july 30 with certain hrs. im new to this game and I paid for the lot 3 expansions however im only playing the trial version for 30 days at the moment. could that be y I cant play and I have to wait longer cause im in trial version. after logging in to game it shows the patch getting done then after that game doesn't log in

That's normal, SE always puts up the patch download for players before the servers come back online. It's to balance out the patch so everyone isn't trying to download the patch all at once.

As for maintenence, SE often finishes maintenence earlier than they expect to (very rarely has it gone on longer than expected, I think it happened once in the entire six-year history of this game), so they'll usually post a message informing players about that beforehand. Just keep checking the Lodestone or refreshing the page on the launcher and the world status should go from red to green eventually.

Today’s maintenance is supposed to last from 10pm PST to 3am PST—so five hours. It’s a fairly standard time for a non-main patch maintenance.

Oh no if thats the case y havent i been able to get in for last 2 days. And even after that time they suggest still cant play. Do i have to download patch or something or is it automatic download as soon as u press on start to play

Have you been able to play since buying the expansions? Could be if you have them registered to your account, the free trial may no longer work, and you may also need to be sure the base game is registered.

If you're on PC, I believe that one still does the downloading after you log in, but before giving you a "play" button. If you're on PS4, it might do it then -- at least it checks at that point whether your version is up to date, and downloads if necessary. But it can also pre-download patches before you start the game.

Besides the latest patch, if you just registered the expansions, you'll have the bulk of those to download as well. While a portion of the expansion content (things like gear they introduce) was downloaded to everyone and became part of the base game software (since even if you can't get that gear yet, you'll see other players wearing it), another larger portion containing data on the new territories and content there, is only downloaded to players who register the relevant expansion. Three expansions worth of that content will be a pretty big download, and particularly if you have a slow internet connection, could take quite a while. (That said, over two days seems excessive, even if you do have a really slow connection, so I'm not sure that's your issue.)

Hi i worked it out it was all in the game settings. I have laptop connected to tv screen and it would all go blank once in game. I set to default setting in game sttings and it works now on full screen hope it helps someone else.
