Slight mistake in the maps of the first?

Most things seem to be at least close enough, but when you arrive in Norvrandt and you look at the world map, the quest mark for them is in the north west...

However when you look at the area map, you have to go north east to reach it, and that would put it somewhere else on the world map.

Look at the location of the crysterium. Due north of that to reach the woods on the regional map. Look at the world map, north west.

    Any thoughts?

The Crystarium is built at the base of the Crystal tower, which lines up with the location it has in the source in Mor Dhona. Keep in mind that Mor Dhona is a lot more damaged compared to Lakeland and the Crystal Tower requires a teleporter in order to reach the base as the bridge is destroyed. Lakeland is not mostly converted into giant crystal after all and the lake has not overtaken much of the terrain. So there is a shorter more direct land route to the Great Wood compared to having to route through Coerthas (Il Mheg) to get there. If you look at it the CT is due west of the central shroud, and the section of Rak'tika we enter is quite clearly in the area of the North Shroud.

So your saying the mistake is with where the crystal tower is shown on the world map? If you move it from where the map shows it, to over in mor dhona, then it works? Just have to change all the quest markers for the crystalerium on the world map too then?

The confusion is because the crystal tower is not shown on the Eorzea world map. Not to mention the area where you would be able to go to the Great Wood from Mor Dhona, North Silvertear, is a impassable wall of crystal which is why you have to route through coerthas to begin with if traveling by land. The Crystal tower is in the correct position in both worlds, the difference is that the events on the Source resulted in the terrain being drastically altered by a calamity. While on the first the same area has not received such damage.

On the world map, the player indicator marker and all quest markers are shown next to the text link which opens the regional map for that general map area. For example:

As you can see, I'm in the Ruby Sea, but my player marker on the map looks as though it's well inland. That's because that marker does not impart any specific information of where I am in regards to the world map, but rather appears directly to the left of the "Othard" text which I can click to get to the Othard regional maps.

    It's the same with Norvrandt:

As you can see, I'm in Amh Araeng, at the Inn at Journey's Head. The blue player marker on the map makes it look like I'm half a continent away, but that's because it's only showing that I'm in Norvrandt, by putting the marker directly left of the "Norvrandt" text link. It's just a quirk of the map system, which is particularly strange-seeming here because an entire continent's zones are all collapsed into one regional category, with only one world map link. Quest markers on the world map display in exactly the same place as the blue player marker.
