they already have it it's called mentor roulette. And you get 30 tomes for doing it.

Mentor roulette still syncs you, but not with my idea (not necessarily OP's). And the idea is for people running the roulette to know what they're getting into because these will be their own separate roulettes.

The 30 tomes is probably because you can get guildhest in a mentor roulette, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes but (in my experience) many mentors that queue Mentor Roulette, essentially pray to NOT get an ex trial. I queue 5/5 ex trials for fun for years now ever since no longer participating in a static. It almost never fails, there's a mentor that'll land in there, that will immediately resort to bitching and berating the party for queuing an ex trial in DF. I mean... to a point I totally agree with your statement, but it's unfortunate that many mentors that land in an ex trial from their roulette, aren't willing to mentor.

Very often it literally gets to the point of the party booting the "mentor" for harassment.

People already leave for Ravana Hard and can barely get through normals. Hard pass. I know I wouldn't use it. Even if the reward was an entire level in EXP, I'd rather do Praetorium.

Blows my mind how much people are against the idea because "they" wouldn't want to do it. If it were added to the game, it's not like someone is now forcing you to do it. Just because it's a daily-roulette doesn't meant you have to do it. Those who want to get their daily stack of tomes and move on, stick to the quicker roulette options. Why not let those who would want this, have it?

That's why I suggested unsynced and only for really old content while still having the option to sync down with preformed parties. Maybe even be able to do the roulette synced if you queue with a full party. People are already trying to mess with alliance roulette, and having a roulette wouldn't be useful if you can't count on people using it, which would defeat the point.

I'd love an EX roulette but there's 2 major issues that others brought up already.

The reward need to be extremely good/unique and not just a big amount of exp.
Hell, personally i'd rather run Praet twice over doing a single mech heavy EX with a PuG if the reward is just EXP.

The second problem is how you gonna keep out those who expect to get carried/bads.
Of course someone might say "It must be available to everyone if it have unique rewards".
I'm pretty sure tho that as long as it ain't locked behind some tight skill check it'll be DoA.

I wholly support the idea of adding an “Extreme Trial Roulette”!

I also like the “daily challenge” idea where one ex-trial-of-the-day is selected similar to frontlines. I see this as the more practical way to implement this so people know what they’re getting into so they don’t fish for what they want and it wouldn’t be stuck on the same trial all the time. It’s also quite a wide spectrum of possible sets of mechanics which can discourage players from jumping in or lead to bad surprises which these ‘mentors’ often complain about.

Perhaps the roulette can draw from a smaller pool that changes every day/week. For example Garuda-Titan-Ifrit one week and then Sephirot-Sophia-Zurven the next.

Maybe a unique currency should be awarded for using it and the actual amount would depend on the difficulty and/or popularity of the trial (Meaning less-run trials award more). Also award the currency if old ex trials are done synced through pf/premades. This currency can be used to buy unique glamour, mounts, minions, etc.

If you don’t like this roulette don’t run it. If you still want the rewards you need to work for it. Personally I don’t like to run MSQ Roulette and it doesn’t bother me that other players run it. If you think very few people will use this roulette don’t forget that very few people run and clear Ultimates and that doesn’t bother me either. :P I don’t think stuff like this should bother anyone.

I think the game needs stuff like this especially considering the recent trending threads about “the lack of content” and such. Now is a good time to add it.

Can see it now, they do this and then remove it a patch later when they notice less than 10% of the roulettes that get queued actually get completed.

I don’t think it would be short-lived like that. I’m pretty confident the Japanese community would steamroll this roulette with little issue and enjoy it. The US/EU community for the most part could come out of their shell and start getting used to more mechanics that aren’t just face roll. Imho
