It's been more than 5 years since the release of A Realm Reborn, and since then the game has built a decent arsenal of EX trials throughout the base game and expansion. To this day, however - via Mentor Roulette - I still meet players fresh out of finishing ARR and the 2.X patches who queued directly into Ramuh EX using the Duty Finder. These are players who are not familiar with the nuances of the NA community in regard to high-end duties.
I do not want to read arguments about how these players should be doing these unsynced in Party Finder - let alone using Party Finder at all. One of my first experiences with end-game content was via the Duty Finder itself, and it was what made me interested in Savage raiding in the first place. Furthermore, waiting for people who are interested in doing these old trials synced is unreasonable. There is not enough reward for the average player who has already experienced that and you cannot expect everyone to be benevolent givers of time for old EX trials.
So why not create an Extreme Trial Roulette with a daily reward enticing enough for veteran players? This solves the issue of old duties like Ultima's Bane or Zurvan EX having queues that are barren except once in a blue moon, giving new-ish players interested in high-end raiding a chance to wet their feet via the Duty Finder. Furthermore, instead of having jaded mentors, who may or may not have expected an easy guildhest for their mentor roulette, leave an EX trial, you will have players who knowingly queued for it.
It's clear that the game is getting an ever-increasing amount of content over the years. However, we need a way to allow newer players an easier chance to play older high-end duties as they were meant to be experienced, and an EX trial roulette would be a step in the right direction!
