Game crashing without error

Hey there! Played FFXIV for a good long while up until about 8 months ago, never had any issues. I returned to playing the game just yesterday and have had a number of crashes without any error codes popping up. They appear to happen in 3 specific situations:

- When teleporting (mostly to main hubs)
- When logging in (mostly to main hubs)
- When entering a Duty with others (4+ players [including self])

Note that these crashes to don't happen EVERY time, but very frequently. There also 2 different scenarios when the game crashes.

- When game is in Fullscreen, game freezes during one of the previously mentioned situations and I am unable to close the game by any means and need to restart the PC
- When game is in Windowed or Borderless, game freezes on transition screen during one of the previously mentioned situations. It gets the tag "Not Responding" at the top of the window (or when hovering over it at the bottom on the task bar) and, when the window is clicked, it is immediately given the "Close program" or "Wait to Respond" options

It's also important to note that waiting for the program to respond doesn't work, I sat for an hour once and still nothing.

I read a few solutions online and gave them a shot to see if they would work. They are as follows:

- clear out everything in the Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV folder
- disable all Start Up programs and restart PC
- check Windows for updates and install accordingly

I also read something about a DX11 error where the solution was advised to run the game at 90hz or less in display options, but my screen only allows for 60hz max regardless, so this shouldn't be a problem. As stated, this hasn't happened to me before. It only happened after coming back from a long hiatus purchasing Shadowbringers, and then freshly installing FFXIV.

According to your System Report, your graphics card drivers are a bit out of date. I'd suggest doing a clean install of the most up-to-date version.

You mentioned deleting the locally-saved data folder. Did you also try a reinstallation of the game?

Have any updates or changes been made to the PC (mandatory and optional)? Could you try changing the compatibility mode? To change compatibility mode, right click on the exe file (Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.exe), right click it and select ‘Properties.’ Select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and select Windows 7.

Thanks for keeping up with me! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. The only updates I know of that I did with Windows were when you suggested I check for updates and then also update my drivers. Which did not work.

However, I have some new info and I'm not sure what's up. I reinstalled one more time just to see if "3rd times the charm" and it worked all week without a single problem. However, after the maintenance last night, I'm crashing again. I haven't done or changed anything since I reinstalled the game this last time after yer last response. The only thing was the maintenance last night. Now I'm crashing again. Thoughts? Thanks so much!

EDIT: There is a miner difference between how I crashed before and now however. While the circumstance that cause them remain the same, I no longer get a not responding. It simply freezes and I am unable to close the window by almost any means. I even restricts me from pulling up task manager. The only way I've been able to close the window is by beginning to restart the PC and then canceling the restart once it closes FF14.

Do you have any overlays open while playing the game (Steam Overlay, Geforce Experience, etc.)? If so, make sure to disable them.

Is any part of your PC overclocked? Does it seem that anything is overheating?
