I believe the damage falloffs after the first target is what discouraged most of them from using AOEs.Some DPS simply refuse to use AOE Skills. Quite a few times I have encountered this and everytime I told them that it's more efficient to use AOE skills when they are 3+ targets. In the end they are just ignoring me. The feels when there is like 6+ targets and the dragoon is just spamming Chaos Thrust/Full Thrust ...
It's like some ppl don't even know they have an aoe rotation and they just don't put the skill in their bars. Sad.
TLDR: People cant math. Virtually every AOE in the game wins at 3 targets. Some win at 2 for crying out loud. Read. Tooltips. But those people cant read tooltips. They arent here reading this. So....what are we doing here again?
Expert dungeon 5.0, the mob hit harder than in 4.x duty roulette expert. I had played fair share all 3 healer. Even though I commit 100% my heal to tank, the tank HP is always up and down in huge margin for 6+ monster pull. This is why as a tank (I play tank too), you need to be considerate. You cannot do huge pull after pull. In my run if I am doing pull, I always varied it. First pull huge pull, second pull 1 group, 3rd pull huge pull, etc. In addition as a tank you need to actively disrupt enemy (such as nojihnoto from evil armor or that power up from horse guy).
TLDR: you cannot push responsibility to a healer, it is also your responsibility in big pull. Remember the game is designed for "decently" sized pull (4 mob most of the time or 5 + with a lot of weaker enemy).
Honestly i think a lot of these complaints are people with lower tier gear or arent as good as they think they are at tanking/healing. It is really extremely rare that i do my experts and cannot successfully mass pull. Hp flying all over the place doesnt tend to happen much. But i also have been playing and raiding as tank for 5 years. Using defenses efficiently is basically a habit after this many dungeons. Always have good gear, etc.
If people are regularly having terrible experiences in dungeons, perhaps one should look at your own play before assuming the other guy messed up. Chances are there is something you can do to improve the situation. As a tabk we really have a lot more control of how smooth a dungeon is. If they arent going smoothly then you almost certainly have a lever to pull to change it.
Thats not to say every dungeon will he flawless if you git gud. But some of these posts make it sound like a real epidemic in expert dungeons is going on. If thats your experience, you are doing something wrong. The occasional bad egg is inevitable, but those are rare occurences. If they arent rare, you should check the mirror.
I recently ran into two dps that did that. Mind you it is, perhaps, one of a handful times for me since the start of ARR. Annoying non the less, even though they are rare.
First: I always pull big, I always pull the boss as soon as all are close enough, no countdown, no standing still. I had the healer on voip so no problems there.
The first stupid thing was one dps pulling the first pack, but I picket them up and sprinted further, gathering all them mobs up nice for some aoe, they did aoe but not the fastest I have seen so to say.
Then that same dps ran in an pulled the first boss, I let the dps be hit a few times before I picked it up. They want to pull then they clearly want to tank, so I gave them a taste. Again, the time to kill on the boss was not the fastest.
After that the second dps, a range, pulled the first group of mobs after the boss, I told the healer I would ignore them and continue, the dps now made the right decision and came running with the mobs after having been hit by them more then they clearly thought they would, they also did not get any heals until they had the mobs where I wanted them, of course I took the mobs from them at this point.
The result: The dps did not repeat their mistakes, they did not say anything about it either, I got to do the pulls smoothly without further annoyance. A happy ending.
