    Continuous 90001 Errors

I have been getting 90001 errors quite regularly for weeks now at exactly two hour intervals from when I log into the game. I thought at first that it might be because of server populations being high recently, but none of the people I know that play have been experiencing this.

It's annoying when it happens in the middle of a dungeon or extreme primal. It's made me anxious about joining parties because I may disconnect in the middle of a run and mess everyone else up. I've looked online for possible solutions and have tried everything that has been suggested but nothing has worked. I'm not very savvy when it comes to computer settings and such so I don't even know what to look for to fix. I wish the error message would clearly state what is causing the disconnect so I can address it.

If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it.

I have been getting this since I installed 3 weeks ago and NOT one of the "solutions" do anything to help. It is maddening.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC or home network that coincides with this?

What platform are you using (PC, PS4, MAC) and what have you tried so far to alleviate the issue?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

All SE usually says is that its somehow on our end.

Zero issue with ANY other game I play
Constant with FF for weeks at a time

But no...one of the reasons may be because I'm not connected directly and use wireless...yup.

I remember this happening a couple of months before Shadow bringers came out, but I never gave it much thought because I wasn't playing as many hours back then and so didn't notice the pattern. I just thought it was unlucky at the time when it happened. Now that I'm playing more, I noticed the two hour window and it's always consistently two hours. I play on PC through a wired ethernet connection and I've made no changes or additions to my computer or network recently.

In my attempt to solve the issue, I tried disabling my antivirus/firewall while I played to see if it was interfering but it made no difference. The antivirus and firewall had already been set to allow FFXIV.
I also saw someone recommended changing my UPnP settings, which didn't help.
I tried port forwarding as I also saw this recommended in previous posts, but did not work. The last thing I tried was disabling my network card's "Energy Efficient Ethernet" setting, but this made no difference either. I don't know what else to do. I can't pinpoint what the cause of the disconnect is.

Thank you for the reply Torula.

You mentioned a two hour window as well. Does it only happen during this time, or is it all the time and worse during that window? What time is that two hour window?

There are a few other troubleshooting options that I'm unsure if you have tried. I'll list them here just in case. I apologize for any redundancies:

    1) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    2) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Yes, the 90001 error only happens every two hours after I login to the game. It's not every two hours of the day, but rather as soon as I log in, the two hour timer starts so to speak. I'll log in at 10 AM and by 12PM I'll get the 90001 error. I haven't tried these troubleshooting options yet, but I've done as suggested and I will reboot the computer and try again tomorrow when I log in again and see if I stay connected after two hours.

So, I did a clean reboot as suggested, and I changed the settings on Internet Explorer as suggested as well. Today, I logged into the game and played but got disconnected exactly at two hours of play time again. So, unfortunately, these fixes didn't help with whatever may be causing my disconnects. I've also tried a VPN service and flushing my DNS cache, but none of this has helped either.

As an update. I've fixed the problem I was having. It wasn't a problem with the game itself. I spoke with my ISP and they helped me fix the problem which was caused by my router. There was a feature turned off that was throttling my bandwidth and kicking me off every online game, not just FFXIV. Thanks for trying to help!
