If the streamer says "don't help" then it's the fault of the people trying to help if the streamer gets upset. Though in my opinion something like "lots of dodging on the last boss" isn't exactly game breaking, so the streamer probably overreacted a bit. However, coming to the forums to vent their frustrations about that streamer probably wasn't the best idea. Both parties are guilty of overreacting to something trivial imo.

I mean, Twitch has been pretty bad on the whole for a long time now, and the whole thing with Alinity is only the most recent symptom of that. You have to keep in mind that most Twitch streamers don't care about you as long as you have their stream open. They're not nice because they care about you, they're nice so you keep coming back and they keep getting paid. Sure, there are some exceptions, but they're few and far between.

So alot of people seem to not understand the appeal of twitch but I'll try to explain it. Most people follow streamers for their personalities, not their gameplay. They are entertainers to their audience. Some follow certain streamers because they play the same game and want to learn from them, kinda like watching a youtube guide/tutorial. It's extremely rare that people watch a streamer for the game only.

Many, many streamers have a "no backseat gaming" rule for their chats.

If you are intolerant of watching someone fail at a game, it is probably best to avoid watching streams of random people that you know might not necessarily be skilled at the game.

Unless you're new to twitch, this isn't uncommon. I don't feel it's "stupid" either. You're in their stream, their rules are the rules. If you don't like them, stop watching. How hard is that? If enough people don't like the rules they won't get watched and their stream will fail. However I know of at least 4 relatively successful streamers (they only stream for income) I watch that have that rule in place and the 300+ people watching them at any given time don't have any problem following those rules.

You basically came here wanting confirmation that you were in the right.. but in most peoples eyes you were not only a bad guest, but you're being a tiny bit elitist by getting so incensed over someone not playing like you wanted them to play.

Yes i've seen it. Especially during Shadowbringers launch, lots of streamers from other games were trying to capitalize on the FFXIV hype and have since started to drop off. I watch them while at work, during downtime in the game. I go in hopeful. Most of them just don't care about the game and just stare at the chat 98% of the time and die to mechanics.

I stick to Xeno, arthars, mrhappy, etc if want serious gamers in the game with some insightful knowledge.

howd she spend an hour and 40 minutes in the vault when dungeons have a 90 minute timer? not to mention a pug group would have left long before an hour passed. something here stinks of heresy...

Not just Twitch, but other sites like Mixer as well. Backseat gaming like that on my channel would likely garner you a permaban right off the bat if I hadn't asked for it (I am VERY strict with my rules). Most people respect them. No backseat gaming is the norm on streaming sites. Spoilers are included in backseat gaming for me.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

This I'm fine with, but some mods have a ... skewed view of what constitutes a spoiler. I was warned by one for mentioning it's implied the Scions accompany you in ShB dungeons, not "random adventurers" because of the Trust system (and, you know, story...), given they're standing right outside the dungeon waiting for you, and they're all standing in the boss room after it's defeated, even if you didn't bring certain Scions with you. The streamer is well past the point the Trust system was introduced, so this was just confusing...
