Well it's in the mentor roulette.
Well it's in the mentor roulette.
They do have a point, mentors are just regular players too that spent time getting 100 commendations, 3 classes up to 80, and something else, which can all be done without even touching a EX trial. If the content can go into a mentor roulette, then it can go into roulette maybe as it's own roulette. Like "Extreme Roulette & Savage Roulette" and let those roulettes give MSQ high rewards since they are considerably more challenging to do and to make up for the fact that you will be a bunch of randoms. And maybe have it so when a new expansion drops their Extreme/Savage trials/raids cannot be in the Extreme/Savage roulette until a month after the content drops, as to give the community time to look at guides/experience the content on their own before throwing them with a bunch of randoms.
This still wouldn’t work. While interest in EX is higher than Savage, there are still a lot of players on NA/EU that won’t even touch either content. I’d imagine the queue times for these would be very long. And, with the sync system in place, some fights would turn out to be much harder than they were when relevant due to job changes—especially if Coils were thrown in there, because there are jobs that are radically different from how they were in 2.0~2.x and toolkits at level 50 have just been pruned too much. I had a friend earlier actually telling me of his static doing minimum item level T5 (Twintania). Because the tanks do not have as many cooldowns as they did in the past, some of the busters were actually very beefy. Not to mention, healers and DPS are also missing resources that were commonly used back then too (e.g., Stoneskin). They do have a point, mentors are just regular players too that spent time getting 100 commendations, 3 classes up to 80, and something else, which can all be done without even touching a EX trial. This isn’t even mentioning how some would probably just leave the Roulette if they get a fight they don’t like or one that is “harder” than the others (this already happens in Mentor Roulette—it is very common to see mentors bail the moment an EX trial pops up in there).
I think this content works better for NA/EU in the PF. I don’t think we need a Duty Finder Roulette for it, even if it’s for older content. And current Savage/EX never has issues with getting parties together. PF is littered with parties during the tier.
And this is coming from someone who would actually like the idea of a harder content roulette. I just recognize that it is very likely to not be feasible.

Extreme fights aren't usually queued for in the Duty/Raid Finder even when they're current, because they are difficult content requiring 8 people who are at least somewhat familiar with the fight mechanics and their own roles. But for old extremes, there are often Party Finder groups for running them unsynced, and you can form one of those. Old extremes are required for the weekly Wondrous Tails challenge, so people are still running them regularly through Party Finder.
Another option is to simply go unsynced and solo the fight. This particular one you used as an example I solo'd as level 70 PLD before the current expansion, can't say what kind of level you would need for other jobs. Soloing the old extremes can be a fun challenge too, when they're not too much below your current level.
To each their own. But if you don't like the story in this game then you really need to be playing something else.
I know this is a few days old, but context? I did hte Warring Triad stuff, and I hadn't cleared either the Extremes at the time, so unless you mean Triad Ex's, I'm not sure what you are talking about.EDIT: It occurred to me that you’re probably trying to do the Warring Triad side quest chain, which requires players to complete Bismarck EX and Ravana EX in order to progress. Ask friends you may have, linkshells, and/or people in your Free Company to help you get past these. Or put up a Party Finder for a quick and easy unsynced clear—both Ravana and Bismarck can be mowed down really easily.
This was honestly a poor design choice on behalf of the developers, especially since NA/EU do not queue up for EX trials in the Duty Finder. That’s specifically a JP thing. However, this will not be a gate you will be met with in Stormblood or Shadowbringers. All EX content in those two expansions are separate and not required for side story progression (as is other EX content in HW).
Both extremes for Ravana and Bismarck need to be done in order to start the Warring Triad (source, got the quest in my log) so I think you are remembering wrong or else you entered them on someone else's WT run.
That can't be the case. I never cleared Bismark Ex until Stormblood, but did the Triad HM back when it was current.
They are not a requirement. Source: did the warring triad questline on an alt two weeks ago.
No, they are not. No MSQ or normal side quest requires EX.
They did. They added them to Mentor Roulette: Wanna know what happens when 7 mentors get into Ravana EX with a bonus? They all leave. People have given you suggestions so stop complaining.
