If they want to make something that you can spend Battery on in AOE they could just boost the potency for Flamethrower and attach a battery gauge requirement to it. That gives Battery an AOE use while also giving what strikes me as the biggest question mark in the kit a more defined use case.

Follow me here, since we already convert lightning aether into out weapons, at 20 battery or 40 or 50 whatever it converts flamethrower, into a giant Tesla coil cannon that arcs between the enemy's.
