    Great Housing Idea

So, there is a thread to post questions for the Devs for the August 7th live letter and we're asked in the OP to read the ones posted, not ask duplicates, and instead leave a like with the questions we like. That said, there's this absolutely excellent housing idea:

If you guys like it, please click the little blue arrow and go leave a like. I think its brilliant, personally.

Also maybe drop a comment in this thread to keep it on the first two pages for a few hours so more people see this.

Housing is supposed to be a gil sink so unless it costs 20m and up, never gonna happen.

Then the instance can cost money. /shrug Its more the instanced medium house in Ishgard idea that's the brilliant part to me.

Besides "never gonna happen" isn't a reason not to ask. :P

    I wonder...

In ESO you can also get a house and you can even buy them for actual money on the store (ESO does not have a mandatory sub fee so it leans heavily on the store).

They were that game's big money/gold sink but eventually Zenimax must have crunched numbers and found people were spending less on the houses themselves and more on furnishing these houses because they gave all NA users a free house of substantial size for a trivial achievement and then gave everyone a free house at the end of the Elsweyr MSQ. This whole "free house with no furnishings" system must be working for them.

Makes perfect sense, really. 20 million gil and a limited supply of houses means most people won't be able to get a house to then add all the furnishings to. Much less change houses on a whim for another 20 mill. Meanwhile people redecorate all the time.

I like this idea, and gave the comment a like to reflect it. I think it'd be cool if you had the option to buy a basic house in Ishgard for approximately the price of a small plot and then could upgrade it for a cost. This gives everyone an entry level into housing with gil sinks automatically attached for upgrades.

I like the idea. It will allow people to have their own personal gardens. Also, people who don't have a house can finally make use of their exterior furnishing items.

Let players start off with a small house with the ability to upgrade.

I would like to help build a giant aether void in Ishgard, so we can get some sweet Wild Star instance housing lol. Or a place in Hydaelyn's bosom (like in our cutscenes as we fly around, a pocket space given by Mother Crystal). A place that begins like the end of time in Chrono Trigger but then you upgrade it by infusing it with aether, creating land and structures like a certain someone created a certain area in an expansion (except on a smaller scale). A zone to practice creation magic.

Imagine being able to create your own zone, chocobo farm, airship, floating islands, under the sea, Azim Steppe house, Ishgardian Estate, Ul'dah Syndicate Riser. . . Wild Star system with FFXIV graphics and themes would be the best housing system to exist in an MMORPG . . >.>!

That said I'd take instanced Ishgardian suites over nothing :P, that'd still be pretty cool.

Naturally the player bragging that they own nearly an entire ward in their signature would be opposed to this. If players get welfare homes, all those houses you are trying to rent or sell off might lose value.
