Weirdest things you've seen...

Here are just some weird things I've seen since I started playing a month ago.

1. The Determined (Creepy) Suitors

So, this was like a week into playing. Four guys, all dressed in (what looked like) black leather show up in a car and all get out. They run up and surround me, spamming /bow.

One of them, without warning, initiates a trade with me. Trying to give me a bouquet of flowers.

I click cancel, and say: "That's not necessary."

To which he responds with: "I think it is."

He proceeds to keep trying to trade me, I keep hitting cancel, eventually I try to move away and they follow me. Feeling really creeped out I teleport to Ul'dah.

They follow me.

Finally I say: "I'm serious. Please leave me alone."

They all vanished into thin air. Not teleported. Vanished.

2. The Repeating Chocoboman

I'm in South Shroud, at the silver mining area. I'm grinding out silver ore, trying to get 99 high quality ore (before I realized that, on my server) HQ silver ore goes for the same price as normal silver ore. Along comes a person who goes up to a mining spot on a chocobo, hops off, mines a spot, calls his chocobo, and goes to another spot.

Nothing weird there.

Until he starts his second cycle.

He mines the first spot, then: Summons chocobo, gets off, summons, gets off, summons, gets off, summons, gets off... This goes on for 20 minutes... Then he teleports away.

Not like the suitors, he normal teleports.

3. The Seven Dwarves

I'm in South Shroud (Silver Ore is lucrative) again. Suddenly along comes 7 Lalafel, all perfectly stacked up on each other. They go to an ore spot, one of them mines. They move to another. One of them mines. They keep this up in perfect synch for about an hour.

One of them breaks off, runs up to me, and does /bow then runs back to each other and they all teleport away simultaneously.

What were these events? I have no idea. What were they trying to do? No idea either. The truth is out there.

4. The Confused Elitist

I'm just browsing the forums and some guy thinks that people care about his PC specs. Proceeds to call PS4 users trash and continuously talk about the computer he built for pages on end. Nobody ever asked. Eventually he gets frustrated that nobody is paying attention to him and becomes even more aggressive.

It was a crazy experience. Also, #3 on your story is just a Lalafell bot train. Truly a terrifying thing to witness.

I'm just browsing the forums and some guy thinks that people care about his PC specs. Proceeds to call PS4 users trash and continuously talk about the computer he built for pages on end. Nobody ever asked. Eventually he gets frustrated that nobody is paying attention to him and becomes even more aggressive.

It was a crazy experience.

Not exactly the kind of weird stuff I was thinking about with this thread, but as Judge Mills Lane said, "I'll allow it."

A bot train breaks off by using /bow?
It seems to me it's a player using multiple clients with the same keypress so all of the characters go in synch.

I feel like it was a bot group and the /bow was a bit of liberty being taken with the storytelling.

Nope. Swear on my honor. One of them walked over did a /bow and booked it back to the others and ,'ported away.

Happened in the Druthers on Hyperion.

I figured, I mean, just for efficiency's sake, wouldn't each bot in the train have slightly different gathering spots? So wouldn't that train be woefully inefficient?

In 2014 and back on Lich, I've been assaulted by the Marshmallow Man-wannabe and his reindeer mate and elf helper after finishing a healer duty and being back to the Gridania inn. I hit F10 and recorded it via ShadowPlay. Something console players can't... oh wait, wrong topic)

That was rather weird and not too uncommon that I get petted randomly because being a Lalafell. So I did not mind my business, walking off. When I looked in the rear mirror...
*jumpscare horror movie high-pitched fiddle sound playing*

I put off my Scholar clothes and back then I was a Bard. Put on my Bard stuff (Ah, the pink one back then^^) to have higher movement speed as I was trying to get away from them, but they were were determined to their mix of cussing and petting me at the same time, as they were in a sort game of "Good Cop - Bad Cop".

Going into a public area on bright daylight might help to get these weirdos off of me, right? No! I had no sprint on my setting, so I had to look it up in my command menu. As I stood there, the reindeer placed himself in front of me and I took the moment of surprise to run and ram myself into his balls and away:

...into the Shrouds. Damnit, I had a hard disk and he must've had an SSD, so he already waited for me!

Until I figured out I can't get away the Michelin Man and his friends (TM)...

... I just logged off and called it a day.

Back in the day, when Manderville was introduced, it was normal being assaulted by the fakes with similiar names too...

It was also normal in 2013/14 to have no clipping on items and landscape, so you could not only walk into your pools....

...but also walk into space.

Wrong coordinates for players made them subterranean, completely submerged or only the top of the head visible:

When they moved, the game corrected their Z-axis, so they were literally zooming out of the ground. Jumpscared guaranteed!

Alright there. I don't have any tales like yours but... When I started playing like 3 years ago I started on the Leviathan server. And in Limsa Lominsa, next to the big aetheryte there was always a male Miqote in a speedo doing the "Manderville" dance who was always AFK in the same spot. And I mean ALWAYS. For months, and months, and months. I went back to Leviathan a couple of years later (Sometime before world visit was implemented) to check in on my old FC. Annnnd the EXACT same male Miqote was in the EXACT same spot in Limsa Lominsa, STILL AFK, STILL doing the "Manderville" dance. It's always been a spectacle for me. Passed by him so much when Leviathan was my home server he almost felt like family. I bet he's still there to this day.

Apart from all the teleporting bots or hackers or whatever I see on occasion that's all I got.

Sounds to me like you ran into some bots.

...Not those first guys, though, not sure what was going on there.

I recently did the MSQ roulette and half the party were in frog costumes. Made those Praetorium cutscenes something special.
