If the game client in question is the steam version - and only then - that's a thing that happens on a daily basis. Every crash/force close can lead to steam thinking the game is no longer installed, prompting a lengthy re-install. It sometimes just happens randomly. It is 100% a steam client issue.

That's the reason why almost every steam service account boots the game directly via the exe or switched to the standalone client. An option that'll be impossible after aug 29 though. Which is a horrible decision, objectively speaking.
