Good afternoon and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
When did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this?
Do you notice a pattern to this crash? Does it only happen while in certain locations or while doing certain actions?
What have you tried so far to alleviate the issue?
We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
Same is happening to me

Attached system information on pastebin so you dont get the wall of text here.
Now, I'll try to describe everything.
This first happened 2 days ago at night during an ARR MSQ quest cutscene (when you return to the scions main quarters after Garuda boss fight). Midway through the cutscene the screen turned black and then I got a "No Display Port Signal" in the screen.
I decided to go to sleep and look into it the next day when I came back for work.
Next day when I come back and I turn the PC on, Windows 10 is finishing some updates before turning on.
Then I opened my steam and it appeared as the game was unnistalled. I press to install it and it recognizes the files in my hard drive but when I open it, the client downloads a 28 gb patch.
I open the game and play with no problems for a few hours and then it crashed again, during normal gameplay. And when I restarted the computer Windows 10 was updating again.
Then, after a few more hours of gameplay, by night, it crashed again. This time I dont recall any windows 10 updates BUT, I couldnt play more than 5 minutes straight from there on.
As soon as I'm through log in queue and the game fully loads screen goes black, or sometimes it endures for a few seconds only for it to go black (and say no display port signal).
I've tried other games and they worked fine. I've tried to remove the 100 hz from my monitor and use 60 hz (since it appears as overclock on the monitor screen), I've tried window mode (as to not use G-Sync since it's disactivated for window mode), I've tried to reset system settings in the game launcher, I've tried to unnistal drivers with DDU and instal latest drivers....
Nothing worked....
I am not sure what caused this but the best I can assume is nvidia driver update.
PC froze on any circumstances in game- loading screen to Gridania, in my housing, in Limsa and in battles.
I tried to restart pc in safe mode but pc totally crashed on windows login page. So I had to format pc.
Gladly I installed ffxiv on another hard drive, played the game without nvidia drive then it worked fine for 2 hours without pc freezing.
So I am gonna reinstall older version of nvidia driver. I hope it won't cause any problem! Fingers crossed.
I made a thread about this a few days back; this started happening to me as well ever since the 5.0 patch.
Sadly it's very occasionally and seems to be extremely random.
Had it happen once in Limsa (near market board area)
Once while standing still outside my house in Mist.
And once while inside Halatali during Dungeon Roulette.
All three times I was different jobs, different clothes, different levels so I can't really find a consistency in the freezes.
Checked PC for malware, virusses, checked game for corrupted files, checked steam installation and even did a complete system check (which took hours)
Came out 100% clean on everything :/
