People who have used story boost (Tales of Adventure)

Hi,

Is there anyone here who has used story boost to skip MSQ and gotten to Shadowbringers? If yes, how are you find the game please? Does the current story make sense to you? Do you think the current events have impact on you as others?

I have some friends who are already at the level cap and want to play with them. I have done ARR MSQ but not done any of HW or SH. Based on some estimates it will take anywhere from 150 to 200 hour to just to do the MSQ of the last 2 expansions so thinking of getting the story boost.

I'd recommend playing it yourself, not skipping it. I know I've had people do what you describe, get confused as you predict, and then ask me the associated questions.

I haven't used the boost to skip MSQ, but some events in HW and SB are connected to what is happening in ShB.
In your shoes, I would get a job level boost to 60, so as to not waste time leveling up, and then run through the MSQ. By the time you start SB you wll be already around level 66 - and already 70 before ending it. Besides, by skipping MSQ you lose a lot of the rewards and the achievements.

Just my two cents. It is up to you really.

I have used one on an alt so I already knew the story, however, the first few intro quests go in-depth explaining whats going on and what the calamities were all about etc etc, you'll pick up the story super easy. Anything else can be watched in the Innkeep. As long as you know your job well enough and know what all the boss markers mean (stack/split damage/aoe puddles, etc) you'll do fine. Just note the story boost will not level you to 70 that is a separate boost that costs more money.

There are "get up to speed with the story" kind of videos on youtube so if you really really feel like skipping and don't care too much, atleast maybe take the time to watch those ^^

If you've gotten through ARR then you're through the slowest part of the story.

Ishgardian's suggestion of buying a job level boost instead is a good one, and it will now boost you to Lv70, not 60.

It will mean you can go straight through the MSQ without stopping for leveling or sidequests.

You're at the point where most people say the story gets better.
Considering you've made it through the worst part of the MSQ grind, at least according to public opinion, skipping the rest now is likely only going to set you up for confusion later when MSQ events are referenced.
If you care for the story at all you'll need to know what happens leading up to ShB, you pretty much have two options of attaining that knowledge:
- play through the MSQ yourself
or
- watch someone else playing through the MSQ

There's nothing as boring as watching someone else play an MMO so I'd advocate playing through the MSQ yourself. Seeing your own character interact with the story usually makes things so much better than watching a complete stranger you have no attachment to doing so.

If you don't care about the story at all go ahead and skip, but be advised that the story is the main feature of this game.
For FFXIV the journey is almost more important than the destination, while other MMOs may "start at level cap" our endgame is extremely limited if you apply the standard definition of the term [that is (challenging) battle content at level cap] and with the set release formula the devs have been following forever there's a good chance you'll keep running out of "endgame" content rather quickly.

how long does it take to finish HW and SH MSQ please? People have said its about 200 hours and if I play 3 hours day and every day (which is a LOT) it will take me 67 days to catch up to my friends. Realistically I wont be playing 3 hour everyday so I am looking at 90 to 100 days to catch up to them. That's huge ask... This is I am thinking weather to play or not...

Level is not problem as I am already level 63. I played when my server was new so had huge xp boost and I did daily dungeons etc. So I can get to level 70 easily.
