Square-Enix account and playing with family

Hi everyone!

While I'm not quite new I have no clue how things with SE accounts work, so here is a small description of the situation and some questions:

I have been playing for a total of six months and recently convinced my husband to join me, at least for the weekends. He will be playing from his laptop, so the question is how do we go about this so as we can play together?

1a) Does he need a Square-Enix account of his own? or,
1b) he can use my SE account and register a second FFXIV account under Account Managment on the mog station?

2) If he needs a new SE account, does his also need to apply with a new e-mail address?
3) If he needs a new SE account, can we pay for it using the same credit card?

Your assistance in clarifying all the above is highly appreciated. Many thanks.

Well, you are not allowed to share any of your account or login information with other people, so it follows that he would need a separate account.
While it might be possible (technically if not by the rules) for you to use two separate service accounts under a single SE account, I can't think of any good reason to do it that way.

I'd recommend using different e-mail addresses for the two different account - far less risk of problems that way.

Since you are two separate people, makes sense for you both to have your own personal accounts. You can use the same credit card for both, though, if you wish.

The fact we can use the same credit card for both SE accounts is really important.

We don't really care to find "holes" in the system and exploit them, that's why I asked if he will need a new SE account. However, I wonder what's the meaning of having different FFXIV accounts registered under a single SE account (through Mog Station Account Management)? When I first noticed it I thought that Square-Enix did that to facilitate families who want to play together: one Square-Enix account for the family, and two or three FFXIV accounts for you and the kids. Am I completely wrong? Apologies for the silly questions, but I have no idea how all this system work.

We now buying a new copy of the game and downloading on his laptop. As for when Moogle world will open so he can create his character, well, that's a completely different story.

Nope. It is solely for people who want more than one account for personal use.
