Good afternoon, please tell me which classes (dps role) are rare or not popular (complex) at the moment?

Most of the least played jobs like NIN and SMN are also the hardest and most complex.
For a lesser played job that also easy to play I would say RDM and MNK.
As a SMN, I welcome you to the most hated and loved dps job of FF14. The job is really busy right now and not many people main it because of the rotation.
Every expansion see a surge of SMNs but it quickly dies off
I'm just some guy...
The least played jobs, based on logs and more I’d say,
Monk - least popular
Ninja.
Red mage.
Ironically against popular opinions, summoner is actually 4th highest logs recorded.
Although many dislike summoner people are still persisting with it, it’s had a large audience for a long time which a lot won’t betray in hope for changes in 5.05.
Red mage popularity has died a lot, I will presume this is mostly because dancer got released, reading a lot of forums a lot of RDMs moved to dancer due to how much more fluid it’s procs are as they stack and more which makes it flow even smoother then RDM
And ninja, the most complex job in the game, not many play this job even during its best times, this is because the job just is a very highly demanding role for the worst dps in the game. Due to its RDPS although I’d say it’s very much too low. It’s not even on 1000 RDPS currently so when adding these things up it’s just not worth it currently.
Have you looked at logsyour the fourth highest recorded logs in FFXIV currently
I don’t think as many quit the job as you think.
I’ve brought this up before and the overall reply I got was “just because there’s complaints doesn’t mean we’ve quit, we simply want it put right” which is a great mentality overall, but I wouldn’t underestimate people’s persistance.
That is literally nothing new with SMN...Have you looked at logsyour the fourth highest recorded logs in FFXIV currently

Just because people are doing parse runs on a job doesn't necessarily equate to people maining it. Not to mention not everyone uploads to fflogs, myself included. Most of my runs have been on BLM but my fflogs do not reflect that. What's more important to think about is how much of the player base actually have active fflogs.
SMN has always been the job that so many people want to play at the beginning of an expansion but it slowly die off in favor or other jobs. If you played and remember 2.0 release, "the sea of emerald" should ring a bell. However, about a month into 2.0 SMNs were becoming pretty uncommon. I think the average of the player base that report that they main SMN is usually around 4% (wish I could find that poll.)
And if I remember correctly, SMN is one of the jobs that people are unhappy about in 5.0. So if doesn't get adjusted, people will leave it like always.
I think this expansion will no different especially if SMN doesn't receive a buff. BLM will dominate the raiding scene for casters.
I have a lot of ideas on ways SMN could be improved so that it flows better and to make it feel as rewarding as it used to be, and I was in the process of writing about it but then decided this may not be the thread to get into that. I kind of touched on my thoughts in earlier threads, but it was a couple weeks ago and I'm much more used to how the job plays now than I was then so I have a clearer idea of what I think could be done. I'm not going to lie, for right now SMN is a huge mess. I still love the job but it's much clunkier now than it was for much of StB. That being said, there's some easy things SE can do to make it feel better to play and there's also some trickier or more unlikely things they can also do. I didn't start maining the job until just before 4.2 last expansion, but as I understand it the 4.0 incarnation of SMN also had teething problems. Basically, even though I am working on leveling/learning another job for various reasons (including the possibility things might not improve), I still wouldn't entirely count SMN out just yet. I admit I was pretty freaked out coming into the expansion, but more experience at this point tells me things aren't nearly as hopeless as I initially thought. We have 5.05 coming out soon, which may give us some changes, but I think 5.1 will be a crucial point to see where the job is going for the remainder of the expansion. That's not to discredit the importance of seeing how the job fares in Savage content first though, especially if we do get significant changes in 5.1, as comparing the fights before and after will also help to gauge things out. All we can do for now is wait and see what happens.
I would say RDM & DRG are quite easy to play. RDM being much easier than DRG.
DRG seems quite popular though I think.
RDM seems a bit less popular.
Ichi, DRG is the most popular melee dps class. Not sure about RDM.
Ninja hands down. Complex, unpopular and weak.
