With all the 5.0 changes, i'm finding Skillspeed/Spellspeed materia better than the usual Crit/Det/Direct hit o.o. Even the MB Agrees lol. Just check the Tier 8 Materia Prices xD. Is this the new META?

Not really. It really depends on what class.
It's meta to an extent, and it's nothing new. For many jobs, you want to reach a specific GCD in order to squeeze out something extra in burst windows, or allow stuff to line up better. Sometimes the only (sensible) way to reach the GCD, is to meld it. Even a 0.02s difference in GCD can decide whether your last attack will hit inside the damage buff or not as it adds up over time.
So if you care about that little bit of extra dps you could squeeze out, your GCD does matter.
since the GCD is horrible in FF XIV, everything that reduces it is desirable.

Well in 5.0, they changed how TP / MP works so you almost never use them, and one of the reasons why ppl don't stack skillspeed/spellspeed is you run out of TP/MP. I've been using spellspeed/skillspeed for melds as the primary stat a few weeks after Shadowbringers was released and it significantly made me more efficient with surprising results with Scholar. I'm only asking since i know there's a shortage of Tier 8 materia atm, and the raiders are probably keeping it on the DL in discord somewhere so they get to buy all the cheap Spellspeed/Skillspeed materia lol. Especially when the new Crafted Battle Gear is coming out soon most likely on patch 5.05 which is supposedly on July 30.
RDM is still Crit/Direct Hit priority. Can't say about the other classes.
anyone trying to optimize their stats will seek a specific Skill/Spell speed. And with our gearing changing every week atm its causing a lot of people to swap materia around to find the right setup. It will calm down once the new tomestone/savage gear comes out and materia dust settles.
I'd imagine that most Melee jobs would want skill speed at least to reach a certain threshold. Caster on the other hand seem like spell speed would be very bad, at least for RDM and SMN. SMN has a lot to weave atm so they need a gcd long enough for them to weave and RDM has mp issues so more speed would just drain them faster. Not sure about ranged jobs but I feel like MCH wouldn't want speed since they also have a lot of weaving.
