I see your points, but in your own words, but be quite similar to a red mage. I'd be hoping for something far more unique, something that draws you in to want to try and play it since different. Hmmm... Well, I'm not going to fully dismiss such a job honestly. And nothing wrong with crossing fingers, and toes if skilled enough!

All dps jobs just boil down the pressing buttons to do damage. What weapon you use is almost cosmetic at this point.
