Hey all,

So I have been loving just about everything about FFXIV for two years now. Find it to be a vastly improved experience from any other MMO I have played. That having been said? The Free Company ranks system needs a serious overhaul, and I'd like to discuss with you all just one small reason that is.

The limitless 'Promote/Demote' permission.

You see, let us say that I have three ranks considered 'Leadership'. You have the Guildmaster, the Officers and the Advisors (assistants to the Officers). If I were to promote a person to Advisor that I initially trusted and he brought in his friend who remained an initiate or raider or what have you. All is good. Though, people can fall victim to the human condition and are prone to disagreements. Despite being the third rank down, this Advisor could promote his lowly friend to Officer. Allowing permissions above his own.

This means that one wrong choice in person, and the entire Free Company could be hurt in the process. All of the furniture stolen, all of the Gil or banked items. Permissions reserved for the highest and most trusted. Who is it that designed this broken system? Why is it that you can demote someone who is higher in rank than you, or promote people to a higher rank than you?

It annoys me how flawed this particular system is. I could understand if it was promoting only to the rank below yours or your own. But the fact that you can do it with ranks higher than the one that you are in is ludicrous.
