Xiv is comfort food. You return to it once in a while precisely because it's always familiar and reliably good.Hi everyone. I’ve played the game since ARR and I absolutely adore the story and world of FF14, but there’s one glaring issue with the game that’s getting more and more apparent as it ages. The combat, jobs and general lack of innovation surrounding them is feeling pretty stifling at this point. When you boil the jobs down, many of them feel like clones or reskins with no customisation or innovation. Obviously it’s an MMO and that dictates how much or little they can really experiment without making jobs unbalanced, but they err so much on the side of familiarity It’s stifling. It just feeling so boring now and it’s really detracting from the game experience for me.
I’m struggling more and more to enjoy the jobs as the game gets older, what do you guys think?
If you have it every day for years you'll get sick of our.
I'm actually enjoying the combat more now that it (to me) flows better, story was great, I haven't ran out of things to do. Tell me, what other mmo DOESNT repeat the formula that works for them? wow? same thing eq? same thing eso? same thing lotr? same thing. Don't act surprised
Go ask Ion Hazzikostas how all the "innovation" has been going for him and his dev team.Hi everyone. Yep, we need a warrior of darkness to break the stasis energy/light that has engulfed Eulmore Fantasy XIV, to free us from the gameplay/lore meols from Vauthry-P.
I love it. As a RP'er, i usually make my own content anyways xD.
Nope, I’m not
It's healthy for people to be constructively critical of a game, but it sounds like this is a case of 'repetitive' for one person being 'consistency' for another. They're obviously willing to try and mix things up (Shared FATES/role quests/Eureka/ect) so I'd imagine it's more them trying to walk that innovation/business safe line and having to work with the technical framework they've built. Like other's have said, MMOs are always going to have some element of grind to them regardless if they're a sandbox or theme park so it comes down to how you want to spend that time. People who engage with all the crafting/gathering or role playing/decorating may have more to do then someone who comes to run through story and start raiding.
It's also okay to unsubscribe for a time if you feel you're not having fun. Better to engage with the content you do enjoy rather then struggle through stuff you don't.
And offer that constructive feedback. We know that the devs do listen although they may not be as vocal as some people would like, but the more constructive feedback (not positive, but critique presented in a constructive way) the devs can present, the more they can push for more things in budgets or design risks. The more specifics they can point at and say "we can quantify x, y, and z changes because of this..." the more likely they are to get it rather then mounds and mounts of posts saying "OMG this is trash!"
No, i'm never bored of this amazing game. <3
The job changes are even better than before and i'm having lots of fun!
Play something else. That is the advice I can give anyone who get's bored of games that are basically endless. Sometimes people just need a change and that's okay you can always come back later![]()
The combat in this game is dull and lacking in fluidity, it's one of the worst on the mmo market. The whole weaving thing is terrible, it's basically like if you were playing an FPS and you're using an assault riffle but in between the bullets coming out of the barrel you try to punch them in the face real quick. If you suggest improvement to anything regarding FFXIV, the hardcore fanboy playerbase will shut you down and say "the game is not for you."
WoW did not die because unbalanced or whatever, it died because people got tired of it being t he same thing every expansion. Its combat didn't become more modern and its graphics remained stale. Just like WoW, FFXIV refuse to improve, it's going to slowly die as games with better combat, graphics, and content come out, just like WoW.
