I have a thread about that http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-my-community!Developers have stated multiple times that the largest latency issues isn't the servers location.
Either way I'm against encouraging people to sequester themselves into NA / EU / JP servers. I play a MMO to play with people around the world. I play at odd hours for a "NA" player and enjoy being able to find people at any givin time of day.
I'd be all for the "Give em a choice of local or global" servers but it would probably just spiral into everyone cloistering themselves in the regional servers.
I would whole heartly love this, but I just can never see it happening, like it never happened for XI.
I think they prefer to keep everything in house.
Well they better start expanding that house to the U.S./CAN and E.U. regions of the world. Hardware should always be priority.
I'm curious, what has SE said about the latency issue? Or what we believe is latency?
wat?You don't understand though, speaking FR or German, those people probably won't move, but the Japanese population will move, they are very xenophobic, so anyone who speaks Japanese will lose those friends, being on the west coast in NV, I do typically play with JPs when I'm up, and also the ping isn't as awful, but the east coast well: where the ohio meets the mississippi, that's 84% of the US population and probably where most of the US people who play this game live, if they move to an NA only server, it leaves a lot of the international servers empty. We'll never be a popular game with millions of players, why further stratify our small playerbase? Games with at least 600,000 players f2p or p2p can support servers for specific regions because they have them, this game does not have enough players and never will to separate us like that. Plus who wants to play with all US dicks all the time, even being American, the Americans tend to be the worst, usually those who didn't play FFXI and don't understand having a good gaming reputation (you could other mmos from old school days and understand too like EQ and SWG, not just XI)
I think your whole post has just become void.

Ragnarok should be located in EU, but having just 1 server move to a dif country is a bit of a hassle,
I think something like this is only worthwhile when you have a big game with over a 100 servers, like SWTOR and WoW XD
I feel bad for the EU players stuck in predominately NA populace :/
I personally work a 6:15~7:30 to 17:00 CST everyday and my playtime is the rest of the day IF i have no rl stuff to combat that given day.
Now that makes me pretty tired going to sleep at 20:00~0:00 every night.
Some EU players I know are having to stay up until 04:00 in the morning on workdays because the lack of ppl with a commonality to their time zone.
I know there's work arounds (EU grouping with JP) but im sure most EU want to share a common language conversation instead of auto translating just about everything.
Sorry to see this happen :/
*huggles*
Have you heard of german or french players ask for localized servers? No? Isn't that interesting?
North Americans aren't the sole players of XIV. There's people from all around the globe playing.
The lag we are seeing is not network latency, its server processing power issues.
That being said I would still much rather see regional servers, if you few that want to stay on international servers over having fluid and reactive gameplay then do so and continue to play on a JP server, I don't' see why the rest of us should have to suffer for that.
if you recive somthing with 350ms ping and u need 200ms to react, you used 550ms (because u CANT react before u get it)I play FFXI and had 0 issues in dealing with Japanese players 350ms is what .35 seconds? hell average human reaction time "Physical" is .2 seconds give or take a few milleseconds. How dare they have a game that doesn't react faster than I can!
if you recive somthing with 50ms ping and u need 200ms to react, you used 250ms (because u CANT react before u get it)
so dont mix terms, this is not FPS where your eyes cant see more than 30 per second.
And i repeat, dont mix FFXI with this game, YoshiP want a decent PvP system.
I'm with jynx. A major reason I play XI and xiv is for the diverse community.
