    Controller Analog Click Request

    Hello!

I was hoping to get a new option for controller click.
Currently I use macro #98 and #99. It's ok. However, it has 3 downfalls:
    • Requires using a macro, which depending on the macro can be inefficient
    • Cannot be changed per job
    • No visibility

My request is to have "Execute Button A1" (analog 1) and A2 as choices, and if a person has those 2 selected, a new HUD option appears where we can place our skills (and I guess macros) there.

This would allow me to put sprint without an action macro, thus no worrying about the lack of skill queuing.

And it would allow me to use the other one to make different targeting macros based on the job (for example, as a tank I might want to target my #2, which would be my co-tank at least with my party sorting), while on my healer I can have target's target (which if I'm aiming at the enemy, means it always grabs whoever has the highest aggro who would typically be our MT). Right now, in order to do that, I have to change the macro and that's highly inconvenient.

Here's a mock up of what i'd like.

Now, if additionally we could have modifiers on it, so that we could have click, RT+click, LT+click, and RT+LT+click, that'd be even more super, but just having the click be something that can be allocated per job would be amazing.

This is a wonderful idea, it would be a huge QoL improvement and open a lot of great possibilities to improve our gameplay

I use R3 per job. You can put an entire list of job exclusive abilities and it will only use the one that you are currently capable of. Just start the macro list with /mirror off so it doesn't tell you every time you click it. I personally have all of my movement abilities in macro 99, such as Shukuchi, Elusive Jump, En Avant, Corps a corps, Between the Lines, etc.

While that works for having completely separate actions, it wouldn't work for having job-specific targeting macros. (Like the example where I want the targeting to do drastically different things for healer and tank, where healer would be target's target while tank would be <2>)

Nor does it address the other issues about skill queuing and visibility (without needing to assign it elsewhere). Adding further to the inefficiency regarding queuing, while yes your macro would indeed fall down, you may not be aware that every line even if ignored adds a small delay. For those pushing for efficiency, having so many alternate versions would be unacceptable, especially on weaker machines where the macro delay is actually affected by hardware delay.

Furthermore my suggestion wouldn't affect your current usage of R3 as while my picture of "before and after" may be slightly misleading, I do admit, I am not asking for macro 98 and 99 to be replaced, but rather 2 new options added so that those who currently have #98 and #99 do not need to redo their set ups if this change were implemented. You could still use your macro, but the rest of us who want something different would have the choice to do so.

Thinking beyond myself, maybe someone would like to put their pots on R3. It is currently not possible to assign an item usage to a macro.

I've been wanting this for awhile currently only have sprint and mount on r3 cause it's the only thing I find efficient right now, but I'd much rather be able to interface with certain jobs but this also would open up the x, and hopefully W cross bar for a net gain of 6 buttons to press

Very neat idea, because it opens up so many more possibilities for what you can do with the stick clicks, which are very useful (if somewhat easy to 'misclick' while moving or adjusting the camera XD). The one concern that I think this MIGHT cause, is how it might inerfere with the Duty Actions - which are currently assigned to R3 when you have an active hotbar selector pressed, either L2 or R2 for a standard PS4 controller.

So these would probably have to be restricted to use while no cross hotbar is active, I suppose?
